Coalition for a Fair Judiciary
September 8, 2003
Mr. Ralph Neas
People for the American Way
2000 M Street, N.W.
Suite 400
Washington, D.C. 20036
Dear Mr. Neas:
We, the undersigned, have banded together to protest your appalling treatment of Miguel Estrada and other federal judicial nominees currently before the United States Senate.
Contrary to popular opinion, you are not the 101st Senator, nor do you speak for us on this or any other matter. For far too long, we have silently watched as you have hijacked the judicial nominations process and subverted the Constitution. Do not expect us to be silent any longer. When extraordinarily qualified men and women nominated for the federal bench are summarily rejected for no other reason than they do not embrace your extremist liberal positions or renounce the tenets of their faith, there is a serious problem in the nominations process.
It is judicial activists on your side of the table who have endangered the civil and political rights of millions of Americans. It is organizations on your team spending buckets of money and countless hours to spread lies destroy stellar legal careers and impeccable reputations of decent men and women who offer themselves for public service in the federal judiciary. It is Senators on your beck and call, armed with your talking points, which viciously attack judicial nominees. The casualty in all of this is nothing less than the Constitution itself.
It is the Constitution, when applied, not interpreted, which protects all of us, not just a few. Ironically, it is precisely those strict constructionists that you seem to fear the most who would be the first to uphold the law no matter how reprehensible to their deeply held personal beliefs.
What is mainstream to you is extremist liberal ideology to us. What is advise and consent to you is delay and obstruct to us. What are deeply held personal beliefs to you is character, ethics and integrity to us. That great divide between our camps is not likely to change anytime soon. It certainly wont change so long as you continue to mistakenly believe that winning at all costs justifies the shameless smear campaigns you conduct.
The damage done by encouraging the subversion of Constitution may not be of concern to you or your fellow travelers, but one can always hope that a sense of decency will someday take root in your conscience.
In the meantime, however, rest assured that you would be challenged on this battlefield.
Make no mistake; it is a battle we intend to win.
Sincerely,

Sorry. Posted before I read the rest of the thread. So, is the typed name and address enough or do you need the actual written out signature?
To: George W. Bush
At any rate, good luck. Maybe you'll open people's eyes to the issue. My eyes are opened! I'm appalled at this administration, this pathetic, limp-wristed party and how they allowed those DemocRATS to run things. I'm at the point where Bush isn't going to get my vote but rather some third party nominee. Think I'll go to the Constitution Party website!

And who will you work for, my FRiend? The democrats? Bush isn't perfect and he's had a few things on his plate that he didn't sign up for either, but he's done a pretty fair job. Blame the democrats for their obstructionist ways.

And then, dear Sister T, you will guarantee a democrat victory in the next election. Bush isn't perfect, but he's the best we have to work with. If he hadn't had a war on terror, in Iraq, with the UN, etc., etc., etc., maybe he could have paid more attention to Congress but it didn't happen that way. I don't know of anyone else who could have brought our nation through one of the worst periods in our history. He's a great Commander-in-Chief and I'll give him my vote again even if he's not perfect.

Jim Talent is my senator. I won't be able to attend, but I'll be there in spirit. Jim Talent is a great American. It was an honor to work on his campaign.

Maybe we should encourage trueblackman and his friends to go protest at the White House or GOP headquarters. That's where the blame really belongs. And the end of this nomination will doom Pryor and a few others. This is the first of about five judicial defeats we're going to suffer.
I still don't believe that the Dims stopped us. We just gave up. We haven't even made them pay for doing this.
I'm at the point where Bush isn't going to get my vote but rather some third party nominee.
I'm not there just yet. But I'm wondering what I got for voting Bush in 2000. I do doubt, though, that we'll have any very good third party candidates in '04.

I will sign it. I will be unable to attend, but sure want to go on record against PFAW!

There was no war on terror when he signed CFR. There was no war on terror when he signed the pork laden Farm Bill 2 years ago. There was no war on terror when he dumped more into the Dept. of Ed. then even the 'RATS wanted.
Your argument no longer washes, Mary.
Sister_T, i voted Constitution Party in '96 and '00.
Some considerations: if you live in a one party state (as I do) then your vote does not aid the 'Rats. If you live in a state where both parties are roughly equal then you DO have to give some thought as to the effect your vote will have. HTH.

"Where are the judges we were promised on significant courts, let alone the Supreme Court?"Two words: Second term.
Gotta get elected first. Estrada will not be a stranger. He will be back.

At 10:00am we will marry on the headquarters of People for the American Way. You're getting married on Monday? Congratulations! I wonder if Ralph Sleaze believes in marriage?
Seriously, though, good luck. I can't make it, however, due to being between two night shifts. I hope y'all are more than a handful for the greasy-haired Ralph Sleaze!
