Jonah's most interesting point is that by throwing the Nazi Tag around like a water balloon, we lose sight on what an unmitigated example of Big Government Evil Hitler was.

Liberals in the United States do a lot of projecting.

Is it still projection when they KNOW they're lying?

First of all, "Nazi" was gutter slang for the verb "to nationalize". The Bider-Mienhoff gang gave themselves this moniker during their early struggles. The official title of the Nazi Party was "The National Socialist Workers Party of Germany". Hitler and the Brownshirts advocated the nationalization of education, health care, transportation, national resources, manufacturing, distribution and law enforcement. <

Yep, sounds like Hitler was just like Bush ...

I posted about 2 weeks ago that if I followed the GOP like an NFL team, I'd love Howard Dean for being an idiot. I don't follow the GOP like an NFL team. I consider gov. and politics more serious than that and would hope the two predominant parties to feel the same way.

The nomination of Howard Dean as a Presidential Candidate is an abomination whether the man wins or not. Whether I personally like the Dems or not, they have a 200 year tradition of public service that they urinate upon if they run this thuroughly hate-filled man for the Presidency.

I expect good, credible leaders and patriots to choose from when I go to vote. I may have disagreed with Jimmy Carter on just about every philosophical impulse, but I believed he was decent, humane and loved the average American. I don't believe Hatred-Powered Howard sees the average person as anything beyond another asset in his trust fund.

I don't want to have to pack my luggage for abroad in case W loses. The Dems have a moral obligation to nominate a better human being.

And anyone who could see the gathering storm of Adolph was probably called irrational and paranoid. I contend that Hillary Clinton wants power for power's sake. She is ususally doing what she accuses others of doing - she projects a lot. She can call Bush a Nazi, and we are not to point out that she acts more like a Nazi than any other politician on the national stage today?

How exactly does that kind of infantile name-calling differ from what JG said about lefties calling Bush a Nazi?

It's a partisan thing. It's bad if your ox is getting gored, but it's good if their gore is getting oxed.

The truth of the matter is the left resembles the Nazi party almost to a T.

Hitler came to power by turning the working class, unemployed, and academic elite against the conservative republic. After Der Fuhrer's election ceased being a political conspiracy and was transformed into a fashionable social phenomenon, party membership was especially popular with educators, bureaucrats, and the press.

Being a Nazi was "politically correct". They called themselves "The Children of the New Age of World Order" and looked down their noses at everyone else. As Hitler acquired more power, he referred to his critics as "The Dark Forces of Anarchy and Hatred". Anyone who questioned Nazi high-handedness in the German press was branded a "Conservative Reactionary". Joseph Goebbels, minister of communications, proclaimed a "New World Order".

The Nazi reign of terror began with false news reports on the Jews, Bohemians and Gypses who were said to be arming themselves to overthrow the "New World Order" and Hitler demanded that all good people register their guns so that they wouldn't fall into the hands of "terrorists and madmen".Right-wing fanatics of the "Old Order" who protested firearms registration were arrested by the S.S. and put in jail for "fomenting hatred against the Government of the German people".

Then the Reichstag (government building) was blown up and Hitler ram-rodded an "Emergency Anti-Terrorist Act" through Parliament that gave the Gestapo extraordinary powers. The leader then declared that for the well-being of the German people, all private firearms were to be confiscated by the Gestapo and the Wermotten (federal law enforcement and military). German citizens who refused to surrender their guns when the "jack-boots" (Gestapo) came calling, were murdered in their homes. By the way, the Gestapo were the federal marshals' service of the Third Reich. The S.W.A.T. team was invented and perfected by the Gestapo to break into the homes of the enemies of the German people.

Miss Hitlery will continue to be heavy handed and ruthless. It will not be tuned out. It will be noticed more and more. The more she screams about Bush in public, the more her core personality will show.

Miss Hitlery's voice alone is fingernails on a chalkboard - even when she's faking nice.

You're a (l)ibertarian and you like Jonah Goldberg?

He's right though, people who compare Bush to Hitler are idiots. Bush is not like Hitler at all, he's more like Cretian or some other socialist.

"So desperate are these people to live in interesting times and play the hero, that they are willing — eager — to topple every significant moral and historical category so they can role play as the Heroes who Would Not Stay Silent. That would be fine if these losers were playing some multisided dice game in their basements. But they're not. There's a war going on and these guys are acting like we're the real enemy. That's not just shameful and stupid, it's unhelpful."

Quote of the week! :p

Nazis murdered millions of unarmed people. They put them in ovens. They made soap out of them. They carted off children in boxcars to die and used some of the kids for medical experiments, including injecting dyes into their eyes to see if they could improve their looks. Lower on the list of charges, the Nazis enslaved millions and launched wars for territorial and egotistical gain (and sent many of the conquered populations to death camps as well). Lower still, they banned books and burned them too.

Burning books is "lower" than burning people?

If Bush wins or loses its through no ones fault but his own, not some gathering storm of the general ideological other.

If a democrat becomes president, we lose the war on terror.

Yeah, except in that case you have a nationalistic and racist fervor, which at least gives it some meaningful similarities with the Nazis.
