Abbas in PLC speech: Arafat is constitutional and historical leader and it`s not ethical to keep him under siege

TOPICS: Foreign Affairs; Front Page News; Government; News/Current Events
KEYWORDS: abbas; allthesame; arafat; roadmap; terrorleaders
The writing is on the wall daily now. He is a terrorist just like Arafat, and yet the Bush administration continues to support this person as part of some "new leadership"

But we knew that already.

The Democrats don't.

Neither does Colin Powell and the entire State Department, for that matter.

The streets of Jerusalem and the Holy Jewish Temple were walked upon by Jewish Kings and Prophets long before the 7th century C.E. when a man named Mohammed had a vision that he was the last chosen prophet of G-d, the G-d they called Allah. Mohammed was driven out of Mecca by the Arab community and fled to Medina which had three Jewish tribes. Mohammed offered himself to the Jews as G-d"s (Allah) final Prophet.

For 19 months Mohammed offered his "quibla" (direction of his prayers) toward Jerusalem as a "confidence-building gesture", until the Jews refused to believe his claims and totally rejected him. Then Mohammed gathered the pagan desert tribes under his visionary image.

Mohammed used the trick of a temporary truce (permitted in Islam) to make a treaty called the Hudaibiya Treaty with the Jewish Koraish tribe. But, in 628 C.E. at the Khaidar Oasis, Mohammed killed them. Arafat often claims that the Oslo Treaty is similar to the Hudaibiya Treaty which Mohammed violated with impunity when he was militarily stronger. (4)

I agree.

The sooner the better. He should be the next Hamas leader taken out by Israel.

Arafat is constitutional and historical leader and it`s not ethical to keep him under siege

What about MOABing him? Or maybe just a little old 2000 lb GPS guided bomb. Or if the Israelies don't have those yet, a 2000 lb Laser Guided Bomb, which I know they do have.

No. The conclusion has to be that Powell and Bush both know all of this. The conclusion has to be that they have chosen to proceed this effete and ineffective way. Ditto on the judicial nominations, ditto oil drilling in Alaska, ditto school vouchers, ditto getting the UN involved in Iraq.

I was a very big Bush backer. I am just about "all out" at this point. refuse any longer to think that "oh, they must have some secret plan on what to do." After a while, the conclusion becomes inescapable that this administration is just not up to it. I though I would be the last to say this, but Estrada and the UN, just about does it to me.
