I agree - the Democrats have won. They will push even harder for the pro-life judge. This puts every single conservative judge in jeopardy. No one will remember Miguel Estrada this time next year.

This represents incompetence of the highest order. The Republicans ought to be ashamed.

The harder the Dems push for a non-pricipled (immoral) judge to sit on the court, one that believes babies should be killed at will and that homosexuals should be "glorified", the more people with guts and morals will come to the fore and "vote" their conscience.

This puts every single conservative judge in jeopardy.

Until the GOP comes up with an effective countermeasure, this dooms every conservative judge. I said it before and I'll say it again, the Orrin Hatch-GOP tactic of accusing the Dems of racial discrimination was assenine and worthless from the start. It was a ridiculous approach, and this proves it. No one thinks the Dems discriminate against Hispanics. They discriminate against pro-lifers and conservatives, whether they are Catholic or not. Period. Dumb dumb dumb. I appreciate Hatch's zeal, but the approach was moronic.

This is a disgrace...the very least the Senate should have done was force the dumocrats to actually filibuster...put it on the news. And Bush is a coward for not blasting the senate with both barrels from day 1 about their obstructionism. He would have won the vote...but he was denied that chance by a minority.

Correction: The DEMOCRATS should be ashamed they did this deed.

The REPUBLICANS failed in their duty by not making that deserved SHAME more public and not MAKING THE DEMOCRAT PAY A POLITICAL PRICE for obstructionism.

Here in Texas, we played more hardball and we *may* yet win on redistricting... nothing is guaranteed, but for sure if the Gov decided that Dem obstructionism was 'too strong' to overcome, it would have been over already and the Dems would have won a vicory with no political price.

FAILURE TO PLAY HARDBALL COST US HERE. SEN FRIST HAS TO ANSWER FOR WHY THE DEMOCRATS WERENT FORCED INTO A REAL 24x7 FILIBUSTER OVER THIS NOMINATION!!
