We the people of the United States of America now are guilty of allowing this kind of death sentence to be carried out not against murders, rapists and child molesters, but on some of the most disabled in our midst. I am a "people of the United States of America," and I totally reject this characterization of me as a murderer. The right to end one's own life is the most basic right one has (arguably the ONLY real right one has).

It is not her decision, it is being done by another for profit, Her care givers have stated she has yelled for help when made aware of what was being done. This is cruelty beyond measure by our society for allowing such a thing to happen.

Thanks for posting this JohnHuang2.
Everyone, get the word out! If you're not up to speed on the plight of Terri Schiavo, visit her website. Also, there are several threads full of information on FreeRepublic, do a search. WorldNetDaily and CNSNews.com have also had many good articles.
Please tell the people on your ping lists. And most of all, pray for Terri and her family.

Sorry, but you are all wrong. I live in Tampa and have followed this story for a long time.
I didn't know that M(r)s. Chastain was a medical doctor.
Mrs. Schiavo is not "severely disabled". She is, in fact, in a coma or permanent vegetative state. The real medical doctors have testified in federal court as such several times. She has been this way for the last 13 years!
She does need "artificial life support". It's called a feeding tube. She cannot even be spoon fed because she doesn't have the ability to swallow her food. If spoon fed, the food would enter her lungs and create infection.
The eye movement, shouting, etc. has been determined, again by real doctors several times, to be impulsive.
Mrs. Schiavo's parents should let their daughter go with dignity and not keep her artificially alive. They will never be able to have any kind of real relationship with their daughter ever again. IMO, they are hung up on their son-in-law not collecting the life insurance money when she does die. Yet, he has said time and time again that he would donate ALL of the money to charity if he ever received any insurance settlement.
Mr. Schiavo simply wants to let his wife die with dignity THE WAY SHE WANTED. That is what he promised her when she was still alive and well. He is only carrying out his promise.

Thanks but we need to do more.. contact everyone in the media, in the government, let them know we are out here and we are angry. We are doing this for our parents, perhaps our children and perhaps ourselves!

If SHE made the decision, I would agree, but this decision is being made for her, apparently by a man who forgot his vows (in sickness and in health) and is all too eager to get rid of her.

Friend, those videos do NOT lie. That woman is NOT in a coma. She reacts in a manner very common to those with brain injuries. Having had a nephew who suffered extensive brain injuries in a motocycle accident many years ago at the age of 18 I can attest to that. He is still alive and his actions and reactions are identical to Terri's.
He will give it all to charity?? BS. I don't believe that for a moment.
Have you ever seen anyone starve to death? My father did while suffering from throat cancer. It was deemed too risky to place a feeding tube in him. It is a horrible horrible horrible death. Even if Terri was comatose, which she is NOT, she shouldn't have to die in that manner.
To: strela
She is not ending her own life. Her husband has chosen to end it for her.

Oh no! It's up to us, "We the People", to jump in and interfere based on the fact that this is in the national media.
Come come, do you really think that I, sitting here over 2000 miles away and having never heard of this case before, don't know more about the situation than Terry's husband?
Might I add that Michael Schiavo is clearly a greedy cashgrubber because he wants to "pull the plug" on his wife? After all, we have no less an authority on greed and opportunism than Jane Chastain herself assuring us of this.
So go ahead, buddy, try to stop us from jumping on the bandwagon, but we'll get involved, because that's what God tells us to do!
The nerve of some people...

I guess my attitude on this case would be predicated on whether she ever filled out a DNR (Do Not Rescuscitate) order during her life or not. I don't see in any of the references I've looked at whether she ever did or not. If she has ever indicated that she wished not to be fed or watered if in a persistent vegetative state (as she is now), then that should be honored.

Yes, it should. I'm leary of the circumstances here though and don't trust her husband's stand on this at all.
