it really is. And folks aren't getting it.

You know, I have always thought the pro-life movement messed up with the "abortion kills children" or "abortion stops a beating heart" slogans.

I thought they should have taken a page from an old anti-drug slogan and used "abortion kills - people like you".

maybe with all the self-regarding boomers getting old & infirm this could still be a winner, using euthanasia in the place of abortion.

I'm only saying THAT part of the story doesn't ring true. I don't know about this case...you don't either. My point is that it's incredulous that the husband would say such things to a nurse.

It seemed odd to me that Schiavo would say those things, too.

But, since he might have been "acting the role" of a loving husband for all those years, he might have dropped his mask once in a great while, too.

I am not going to "play" debate with you on this "issue".
I live here.
I have prayed for Terri for many years.
She is a real, living, human being I have never met, yet I am able to genuinely mourn and protest her state orchestrated murder.
GS, nothing in this case is "sudden".
If you think that CNAs and LPNs at Hospice organizations submit affidavits just for media attention...well.. you should STFU, and remain silent on issues (such an ugly word for a womans life)that you "feel" yourself to be educated on.
A woman, not accused of any crime, will be executed by court orders in the State of Florida, because she is not "healthy enough " and her spouse wants the balance of the money he "won" to make her altered existance bearable.
God save us.
And may God damn us if we choose to accept this as normal and "right".

Q: Why did you want to learn to be a nurse?
Michael Schiavo: Because I enjoy it and I want to learn more how to take care of Terri.

Q: You're a young man. Your life is ahead of you. When you look up the road, what do you see for yourself?
Michael Schiavo: See myself hopefully finishing school and taking care of my wife.

Q: Where do you want to take care of your wife?
Michael Schiavo: I want to bring her home.

Q: If you had the resources available to you, if you had the equipment and the people, would you do that?
Michael Schiavo: Yes, I would, in a heartbeat.

Q: How do you feel about being married to Terri now?
Michael Schiavo: I feel wonderful. She's my life and I wouldn't trade her for the world. I believe in my wedding vows.

Q: You believe in your wedding vows, what do you mean by that?
Michael Schiavo: I believe in the vows I took with my wife, through sickness, in health, for richer or poor. I married my wife because I love her and I want to spend the rest of my life with her. I'm going to do that.

These are quotes from the husband during the malpractice trial. Then, nine monthes after the money was awarded he made the announcement that "Terri told me she wouldn't want to be a burden", and he began to actively seek to have her feeding tube removed.

Thanks for your post. My sentiments exactly! We have all got to remember this is Florida, so what should we expect other than Judges who will rule for anything unlawful and ungodly? Debating whether or not the CNA's are truthful is way past the point. This womans life is being taken away by our government. What right do they have to decide when we are all given the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?

What right do they have to decide....

Especially when the loving parents want to take care of Terri for the rest of her life!

It is clearly all about money going into the pockets of the "husband".

What I don't understand, is that here (at least in this area) if someone is on Hospice,
they
a. Have to have a terminal Dx and
b. Have to be reassessed every few months. I have never, ever seen anyone stay in Hospice more than 6 months.

Terry doesn't have a terminal Dx and she has been in Hospice 3 years! Something is just weird.

BTW,
Most of my personal (family) and professional experiences with Hospice have been very positive.

I have a close friend who is now an RN in FLA. I asked her about this case a few days ago. During her training, (several years ago) she came into contact with Terri. My friend tells me that at that time Terri was not in a persistent vegetative state, did indeed speak (said "love you" to her mother and "help me" to staff) and at that time a nurse told my friend that Terri's husband had indeed said, "When is this bitch going to die."
