Voter Registration Drive at Houston High Schools
Train to Become a Certified Deputy Registrar
Dear Friend,
I am hoping to mobilize Certified Deputy Registrars for a huge event at local HISD high schools. Kendra Yarbrough, who teaches at Scarborough H.S, has worked overtime to facilitate this operation. She deserves a huge pat on the back for her efforts.
So far we need volunteers at Cesar Chavez High School on Tuedsday,(sic) September 8th and Wednesday, September 9th. The time would be 8:30 a.m-4:00 p.m. The only way to accomplish Kendra's vision is for CDR's to assist in this campaign.
We will also need CDR's at Westbury High School on Tuesday, September 15th during their lunch periods. When I have a time I will get back to the CDR's who give me a definite "yes" for both dates. I will also supply addresses, phone numbers, directions and contact names for each school to all who RSVP with a "yes".
There are several other high schools we will be going to and getting out the message of just how important it is to register to vote. This is a great opportunity to educate the youth, our future, on their rights and responsibilities as voters.
If you do respond with a "yes" and you need VR booklets please contact me and I will be sure to supply you with what you need.
In addition if you are not a Certified Deputy Registrar you can become one. Friday, September 5th Marty Morrison will be here at party headquarters from 2:00p.m-4:00p.m to register you. I am hoping to get a good, healthy number of live bodies here on that day and get you certified. The party HQ is located at 1445 North Loop West right off of Ella Blvd. Our phone number here is (713) 802-0085. I am looking forward, as is Marty, to a big turnout.
Thank you in advance for your help and your efforts in these joint projects. Please do not hesitate to call me or e-mail me if you need any further information.
Sincerely,
Jerome C. Cabeen New Voter Registration Coordinator Harris County Democratic Party

In the Old Days you had to be a 21 year-old, property-owning male to vote. Now you know why.

What does that have to do with anything? Well, other than having malcontents vote themselves deeper into my pocket, nothing. Is that OK?

The party HQ is located at 1445 North Loop West right off of Ella Blvd. "The party".. already they assume affiliation as a given.
This is sick stuff, and located right near me.
I may need to go and have a look at this.

I just got a snail mail from one of my son's old nursery school teachers urging me to vote for some Democrat party hack to fill a local judgeship slot.
Yes, it's a private school, and yes, she could have gotten my home address off google, but it still irked me.

Well as long as it is legal, I think it would just reinforce Dem stereotypes if we complain about a voter registration drive. Better to dry and do a similar GOP registration drive, trying to get the same kind of access through the schools. Thus you either counter their efforts, or expose favoritism that THEN could be portrayed as another Dem trick.

They will get their names and vote for them.

Unfortunately, there are plenty of 18+ year olds in any high school because so many flunk 1 or more grades. Makes ya wonder if they should be voting..

Houston=LA by the gulf. Note the absence of the beautiful landscape. Houston=the Waste & overflow drain of Texas.
I hope somebody down there has the time to go ask what the heck is going on here. These are public schools and are not to be associated with any political party. Anyone of an offical capacity encouraging these students should be fired immediately.
Republicans need to stand up and point out that the absurdity of it all. These laws and policies weren't our doing, you know.

I have always lived in the Dallas area and have always had family in Houston. Sorry, Houston sucks eggs. Smelly smelly eggs. But I love your conservative newspaper..what's it called?? "Pravda Gulf-Side"?? Might as well be "The Dallas Mornin' Muse". We need to talk.
