Less than two weeks before the Supreme Court hears arguments on Sept. 8 regarding the constitutionality of the provisions of last year's campaign-finance-reform legislation, the Federal Election Commission (FEC) issued its summary of January-June hard-money contributions to federally registered political-party committees. The Democrats pushed hard for campaign finance reform because they wanted to be seen as being in favor of it for campaigning purposes.

They thought they could make a big stink about it because they were dead sure that the Republicans would never let it pass. That way they could also use it to demonize the Republicans.

Turns out that they were wrong, twice, and they are now stuck with something they only pretended to want.
