[history]
The White House yesterday seized on a new report showing growth in manufacturing as the latest sign the economic recovery is gaining momentum, despite Democratic claims to the contrary.
"You're beginning to see our economy pick up more steam and grow even faster," said White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan. "There are a lot of positive signs out there."

Deeply, deeply saddened, Tom Daschle could not be reached for comment.

So..."the quagmire" will be the focus of the 2004 campaign. And of course gay marriage. WHY is that an issue with anyone, I always wonder. They make up like 2% of society! Hardly worth all the time the media spends on them!

How do Presidents "create" jobs?
Has anyone--other than government employees--ever been hired by a U.S. President?

If they pin their hopes on Iraq, Democrats are in a deeper quagmire than any of us could've imagined.

They don't hire directly, they do create an environment for employment though.
For example, most people in the US were enrolled in Doha without their consent. Doha is essentially a welfare program for the poor countries (read: China).
They have created a system where we race to the bottom of the labor pool. That is the stated goal. They are displacing people that are otherwise more productive and certainly better consumers.
Doha is turning much so into class warfare.
China for example only wants to participate partially in the global economy. They want factories, all of them, but they don't want to open their domestic markets or reform their system (political or otherwise). They are actually MUCH less productive, but because of their 'poor' moniker, and quite a few government subsidies, they put our guys out of business.
But because they are "poor" and we are "rich" we 'owe' them something.
We had the intention to help the poor, but 1/2 of them hate us despite what we do. They won't recognize what we do.
Someone in the government signed on to that deal and the rest of us have to live with it. Thats one way how they rid the US of many jobs.
To: MNLDS
Basically it amounts to our guys being put out of work, not by competition, but by someone else's political agenda.

As long as it remains basically a jobless recovery, they havn't lost the issue at all. In fact, they're gaining supporters. Anyone who wants to win in '04 had better tout Jobs for Americans First. And in Bush's case, he'd better provide immediate action or it will fall on deaf ears. I know this isn't popular, but it's the truth. These are exactly the conditions that occured when his father was in office. He ignored the cries when factory jobs started going to Asia. It cost him the election.

At the very least we should have deals with people that like us, will recognize our good will, and will treat us fairly in return. The more fair they treat us the better off they will be in the end.
Now, if we buy circut boards from China, export them to the US, and assemble a radio here made of Chinese components... you think we can sell that radio to China? Fat chance.
The thing is they have their market locked up, and are getting ours locked up too. The lock theirs up by protectionism, and lock ours by subsidizing their exports. Either way we are screwed. Unless you give them everything they want that is (the whole nine yards of manufacturing, even things they are not good at), and become the importer of their products. Everyone else though is screwed. By their protectionism they screw us out of jobs.
We should have deals where if we buy from them, they buy from us. Period. We have to insist on it.
When a President insists on such an arrangement and equal treatment, he thus creates jobs and opportunities for jobs here at home.

The good news the growth is coming soon than for his father. If he does have an affected job growth in blue collar he will sweep 45 states.

The Dems are reinforcing the idea that they are they party of negativism. Their whole strategy is to hope for disaster for the country which many of them undoubtably do wish for. Kerry is killing himself through his naked ambition, mendacity, and wrong campaign strategy. His plan should have been to try to out-dignity Bush. He should try to appear to be the statesman who was above petty bickering and positive on America. But he just can't help himself. He will not get that arch Bush-hater left-wing nut fringe crowd that Dean has no matter how he much panders to them.
By trying to out-Dubya Bush he could have been seen by the general public (and that portion of Dems who are not far-left nutzos) as being the most presidential in appearance. But his own character flaws are doing him in. With his war record he could have gotten much support by fence-sitters and moderates who don't care about ideology. He would still be a disaster as a prez, but I'm just offering him free advice because I'm such a nice guy. (ha,ha) As if he'd take it.

Job growth cannot take place on any scale in the American manufacturing sector before the 2004 elections. There has been a permanent destruction and removal of too much American manufacturing. Plants have been dismantled and shipped overseas.

...Aside from jobs, the White House believes it is well on its way toward taking the economy off the table as a potential campaign issue for Democrats...
Aside from jobs?
Are they that clueless?
To the average guy, the economy is nothing more than does he have a job!
To: Paul8148
I certainly hope so. It would be very welcome.
Even if there is full employment though, we still need fair trade. There is never a time when we shouldn't have it. It should be institutionalized.

Exactly.
To: JohnHuang2
Its bad news for the Democrats. If they lose the economy as an issue the only way they'l be able to beat President Bush is hoping a live girl or dead boy turns up in his bed.
