His political future is going to be dead and you might see him have to become a Democrat to ever be elected again. You've given me a wonderful idea for a new name for the "gentleman". You'll be seeing it soon.

Here's another one. McCrackpot is UNELECTABLE. Get it???
Now, now. The use of silly names doesn't help the discussion, but only inflames it. Tom is not a crackpot, while some of his supporters from DU and elsewhere might be. Let's wait and see if he does the right thing first.

Republican Candidate Makes No Apologies For Seeking Contributions
Aug 27, 2003 1:26 pm US/Pacific
LOS ANGELES (AP) State Sen. Tom McClintock makes no apologies for aggressively seeking campaign contributions from California's gambling-rich Indian tribes, saying his support for tribal issues goes back years before the state legalized Indian gambling.
"I stood with them long before they were powerful or a special interest," McClintock said Tuesday after unveiling a television ad in which he promised that as governor he would "challenge the spending lobby" he said controls Sacramento politics.
McClintock criticized Gov. Gray Davis' efforts to get the tribes, which as sovereign nations do not pay taxes to the state, to contribute more money to California programs.
"I do not believe that the tribes should have to pay tribute to the state to maintain that sovereignty," he said.
He also disagreed with current state regulations limiting the number of slot machines a tribe can operate to 2,000.
McClintock campaign director John Feliz said he expects the tribes will support both the Republican McClintock and Democratic Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante, another longtime tribal supporter.
Indian tribes have become some of the state's top political donors since scores of them signed deals three years ago to operate casinos, and they are expected to give heavily during the remainder of the recall campaign.

Between Davis, Bustamante or Arnold, Arnold mostly puts the conservative agenda forward by far.
He is also electable compared to the rest of the Republican field.

O
f course, as I have been reading about his past, McClintock has always been an outsider in the Republican party, attacking even Deukmejian, is never willing to compromise or consider anyone else's position, except his own. That is exactly what I heard from some folks I know from CA that worked Reagan's 1984 campaign! Then it was posted on several threads that two bills McClintock supporters were taking credit for that he authored, he didn't vote for in the end because they didn't go far enough! He doesn't compromise which makes a bad Governor because you don't always get what you want!

Please lose the empty troll charges. Honest people can have honest disagreements without being disagreeable.

"Gee, Tom. That's a nice political career you have going. I'd hate to see something happen to it..." LOL!! Chris, you're such an astute political observer, and an obvious afficionado of THE GODFATHER.
McClintock, if he sells out to the Indian Tribes, is Connie's husband, Carlo.
Clemenza will come calling.

You're a smart RINO, just do that lil ole thing called search. Google is a good place to start, oh and you might(even though I know it's really hard to do), want to do a search on here also. Shucks you might even break a sweat doing it. Oh and after you have done the above, try to get back to the matter at hand, you know that "Who to vote for" and why thingy.
To: Amerigomag
Davis, if he survives will be a reformed politcal whore... I think Davis will be an emboldened one. With recall behind him, he will be full-steam-ahead.<p. -PJ

Riordan would have lost far worse than Simon, and Davis' 10 million certainly hrut Riordan...
So The Gray One spent Ten Million Dollars sinking Riordan so he could face
a stronger candidate in Simon.
I suppose that might be true, given the strange course of CA politics.

I pray he does the right thing.
If he doesn't, I can't see him having much of a political future and he could force a Democratic Governor on us again.
He has only the power to spoil.

You'd be surprised who of us actually do get paid to give political advice... Didn't you link to that California Blog site that TOTALLY misquoted the LA Times article about Maria Shriver's part in the campaign? It helps to be accurate!

Yeah, tell yourself that.
Sean Hannity is a dolt. I remember a time he was trying to explain the Laffer Curve, and it was just awful how bad he botched a fairly simple concept. Apparently Steve Moore of the Club For Growth turned it off because it was so painful. Sean also doesn't have a clue about constitutional law.
Dave Dreier, Chistopher Cox, and Dana Rohrabacher all supported Riordan too. Not exactly going to impress me that they've signed on to Riordan's Second Coming (Arnold).
And as long as we're talking about the precinct walkers, you'll be pleased to know that the California Republican Assembly, which is the main group that provides such people, overwhelmingly support McClintock.

And when Bustamante wins? Then what? Let's say what you believ will happen doesn't pan out? More Bush sniping in '04 from California that he can't affordSettle down. Bush lost CA before, and now we've had alittle thing that will be remember next week called 9/11. Its not safe to vote Demo.
More importantly, (R)nold will fail. I know that seems harsh, but he has no vision. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but KFI is the largest station in SoCal, and has led the recall effort. (R)nold was on there a few minutes ago. Did you hear about this? They tried to pin him down on taxes...and HE HUNG UP THE PHONE. I'm not making this up. 6 minute interview! This guy is going NOWHERE FAST. Please, please wake up.
What will you do if Bustamante wins?
Be patient, (R)nold is going to drop so significantly in the polls that even the media will turn this between Busta and Tom, we have a whole host of weapons grade plutonium against him, but this stealth actor is sucking up all the oxygen. Watch Bustamante tomorrow night ok? This guy is "unstable", Klansmen usually are under pressure, you'll see what i mean, promise.

"There's no provision for that, since the Lieutenant Governor is elected separately. Bustamante remains LtGov if he loses, whether Davis is recalled or not." oops!!!, I didn't know that. As I said, I don't have a dog in this fight and probably shouldn't have chimed in to begin with, I just would love to see a change for the better in California. Sorry for being un-aware of the California Constitution
