Why Hillary opposes the Democratic front-runner.
Tuesday, September 2, 2003 12:01 a.m.
While Hillary Clinton swears she isn't running for president, she certainly isn't happy about Howard Dean becoming the Democratic frontrunner. The Clintons--along with Terry McAuliffe, their hand-picked chairman of the Democratic National Committee--could become some of the biggest behind-the-scenes obstacles to Mr. Dean's insurgent candidacy.

The DNC supposedly met with Dean and buried the hatchet. I believe he now has their support (at least as much of it as any other Dim).
Like it or not, Dean will be the Dem candidate. The media ordained him a month ago. With their full support, he will not be stopped.

Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana, chairman of the Democratic Leadership Council, dismissed Mr. Dean's fiery speeches against the Bush White House by asking, "Do we want to vent or to govern?" That is one of the differences between these democrats and a good politician. Those that the public office need people who want to serve.

Dean will be stopped when someone has the ba**s to run an ad airing out his wacky leftist ideas like gay marraige.

Does he have any malpractice suits against him? Has anyone done any real research into his medical career? What is his area of specialty?

He is not a doctor, he WAS a doctor, 12 years ago.
he is a politician. That's it.
The press annoys me with, "He IS a physician."

Well, Majority Leader Frist is STILL a doctor, and rather an amazing one, too.
They do overplay the physician background of Dean. I just wondered if he had any lawsuits or whatever...Why he simply quit to go into politics.

if memory serves, I don't think he was a doctor for very long.
Although his time as an intern for Planned Parenthood will be something that needs to be researched.
If he wins the nomination look for all kinds of goodies like that to come out. If he has any skeletons, Vermonters will be itching to share them with the rest of the country.
For all the bias in the press, lets not forget that they will happily join a scandal train, however faint the evidence.

Interesting analysis as always from Fund. He did peak too soon. And if Hillary doesnt run and he is the nominee, the press will tire of him very soon. He will have ALOT more public warts by the time he is nominated. Remember how much of an unknown quantity W was at this time in 99? Dean is going to pay the price. I wouldnt entirely rule Kerry out-he could still win the nod.

Like a Marine, a priest, a nun, or a nurse, once a doctor, always a doctor.

Like it or not, Dean will be the Dem candidate. The media ordained him a month ago. With their full support, he will not be stopped. It's quite like the Dems for the fix to be in early, but I'm not convinced. The Clinton Mafia is still a factor, I think. We'll see. I hope I'm wrong.
Dean will be stopped when someone has the ba**s to run an ad airing out his wacky leftist ideas like gay marriage.
Dean has waffled a bit on "gay marriage", and from a Dem point of view it's not so whacky. I predict it will happen by some court case as in Canada. That will take it off the table for presidential candidates.
The notion of a constitutional amendment against gay marriage is a fantasy. Like it or not, this is going to be the way it is, with all the unpleasant side-effects. At first, the most noticeable side-effect will be the enrichment of "family law" attorneys.
OK call me cynical.

The funniest part about Dean, and how riddiculus he is as a politician, is that he goes around trumpeting to the uber left his "signing into law gay marriages".
The Vermont Supreme Court forced this measure, and when he did sign the bill, he did it behind closed doors, not trumpeting aloud like he proclaims now.
His pandering to the ultra liberals knows no bounds in this election. Howard Mondale, err, Dean, will at least keep it interesting if he wins the nomination.

Good article. Here's what will happen [IMHO]:
1) Constant anti-Bush quibbling in the media and Iraq/economy hand-wringing will erode Bush's support.
2) Dean's numbers will increase even further until it will look like he just might win
3) This will concern the Clinton camp as if Dean is President - she can't run or win in 2008.
4) Hillary will jump into the 2004 race before the California primary.

He is a proctologist. Ha ha (not). I was under the impression that he is an ob/gyn. If this is wrong, I want some evidence not just an assertion. I will fully admit it if I am mistaken.
If he hasn't practised lately he is still a doctor. That is a cheap shot.
I wonder if he perfomed any abortions. He was on the local board of Planned Parenthood.

Fund is only partly right. Dean went to Hillary before running to make sure that she wasn't going to enter. She gave him the all clear.
Hillary and Bill want Dean to win the nomination. The loss of their stooge, McAuliffe, would be a small price to pay for a catastrophic Democratic showing in 2004.
The entire idea is to run a turkey who won't win. This clears the decks in 2008 for Hillary to run against Jeb or Rice.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

When the Republicans overplay their hand, the newspapers are all over them beating them up, but it brings the GOP back to reality. Remember Buchanan's run in 1996, the press slaughtered him and killed any chance of Pat winning the nomination, which in reality was probably good for the GOP. Now the Dems are overplaying their hand with Howard Dean, but the media is pretty silent and actually quite supportive. Believe me, the country does not want a president who supports gay marriages and thinks the US is weak and needs to run to the UN to solve all our problems.
