[history]
FOR decades, she was a fierce fighter of the left - an outspoken feminist, friend of the oppressed. But now, best-selling author Phyllis Chesler is more likely to get dirty looks than high-fives as she strolls through her Park Slope, Brooklyn, neighborhood, where she's committed the cardinal sin of flying the American flag.

I guess it's nice she woke up. But this has been around for all to see for the whole of the 20th century.

You would think Shrillary's kissing partner might have given her pause earlier.

It took thousands of wake ups for the alarm clock to finally go off in her head.

I keep hearing stories that the American Jews are very liberal. And that most American Jews are Democrats. I hear that Hollywood is very liberal and that many Hollywood Jews are very liberal. I kept wondering what would happen to the Jewish liberalism with the Democrats speaking out against Isreal and speaking for Palistine. It appears that one Jewish liberal has changed her mind. Will there be others?!

You need to get out more. There are many Jewish conservatives, many at FR, in fact.
More...---SNIP---"I can't think of anyone short of Richard Nixon who could be thought of as such a strong friend and ally of Israel," said Stephen Hess, a presidential expert at the Brookings Institution, a Washington-based think tank. "
There is almost an umbilical cord in the way he reaches out to Israel."
White House and Republican Party officials hope the support will deliver more Jewish voters to Bush in next year's election. In 2000, he drew just 19 percent of the Jewish vote. He'd also like to attract more campaign contributions from the Jewish community.
Republicans are already seeing big-ticket Democratic Jewish donors joining their ranks: California business executive Roland Arnall hosted a Bush-Cheney fundraiser at his home with Vice President Dick Cheney three weeks ago and raised $1 million for the re-election campaign.
Arnall's wife, Dawn, gave the Republican National Committee $1 million last October, the largest single contribution the group has ever received. Before their foray into Republican politics, the Arnalls had given nearly $1.5 million to Democratic Party causes over the last two years. The American Jewish Congress' Rosen, another regular Democratic Party contributor, gave the RNC $100,000. New York real estate mogul Michael Sonnenfeldt gave the RNC $10,000.
The Arnalls, in a statement released at the time of their donations, said they felt compelled to give to the Republican Party because "America finally has a leader with great integrity and courage who will rid the world of the scourge of terrorism." An increase in Jewish contributions and a potentially higher Jewish turnout for Bush won't be enough for him to capture a community that has traditionally voted Democratic, political analysts say. But it could cut into the Democratic base and make states with high Jewish populations more competitive. "Jews are not a deciding vote, but they are a swing vote," said Hank Sheinkopf, a New York-based Democratic political consultant. "If they move Republican, they can cause problems (for Democrats) in such electoral college states like Florida, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Michigan."

Keep this in mind for 2004.

Israel. There, I have got the right spelling. It seems that there are two sides to every issue. The right side and the wrong side. The case for Western Civilization and the case against Western Civilization. What the Communist will seem to do, is to attack America because it isn't completely perfect when in fact it is better in most every aspect that every other nation. I wonder how many more liberal Jews will leave the Democratic Party to join the Republican and the support of Israel? Is it really just a culture war. Them vs. USA and USA vs. Them. Pretty easy to make decissions. Conservatives for Western Civ. Liberals against Western Civ. It makes since to be for the best.

"Just because America is not perfect, it's a lot closer to perfect than anywhere else on earth. That's something intellectuals and [academia] still don't understand."
Its finally good to see liberals waking up in America! Especially Jewish liberals - she is right on the money regarding her points!

Veronica says I should get out more. As should everyone. The sunshine helps to produce Vitamin D. However, as Veronica states, 19% of the Jewish voters, voted for GWBush. And it is known that lots of Jewism voters were registered twice: In New York and Brower County, Fla. Many Jews living in Israel hoped to vote Democrat in the Presidental Election because they might be able to get a Jewish Vice-President. It is nice to see that there are Jews who are influencial and are organizing for the Republican Party. I hope the Republican Party gets more Jewish voters. I would like to hear more about the Jewish Republican Strategy to convert the Democratic Jews to the Republican side of the page.

I keep hearing stories that the American Jews are very liberal.
Polls say they are. And that contradicts the old myth about how intelligent Jews are.

"It appears that one Jewish liberal has changed her mind. Will there be others?!" Don't hold your breath or bet on it.
They will still bring up their children as liberals and still support liberal causes and the type of lifestyles that have debilitated our nation and the kind of people who undermine solid values. (They are still proudest of Barbara S.)
Kudos to this woman, however. One intellectually honest individual. Rare to find. Wonder whether she, too, will whip the productive war-horse "anti-semitic".

The last Census identified 5.2 million American Jews. There are not enough Jews in the U.S. to have much effect on any national elections, by their vote. They may have a strong local vote in New York City, or in south Florida. I have never understood why so many people worry about the Jewish vote. It can only be symbolic to a national election.

"They?" Jews are not of one mind and never have been. You put two Jews together for a discussion and you have three opinions.
While some Jews are historically liberal, quite a few are conservative.
The lock the Democrat Party once had on Jews is loosening.
