EUGENE, Ore. -- A lesbian couple alleges that O'Hara Catholic School refused admission to their 4-year-old daughter because of their sexual orientation.
The couple has complained to the Eugene Human Rights Commission and the Oregon Child Care Division.
One of the women, Lee Inkmann, said O'Hara Principal Dianne Bert told her in mid-August that having a family with two mothers at the school would confuse other children, and that gay unions are in conflict with Vatican teachings.

The homos never stop. Ever. They are the antithesis to our democracy.

This was a planned assault undertaken for purely political reasons.
May the school have the courage to stand firm.

It wasn't all that long ago that people like this would be embarrassed to bring attention to themselves. The school, the parish, and the diocese better not fold on this one.

What part of the word"private" don't these idiots understand?
Private schools should be able to admit,or reject, anyone that they want, without any explanation.
I feel the same way about private golf clubs, social clubs or anything else that is not supported by the taxpayer.

That is, until they get vouchers and are forced to accept anyone. Remember VMI and the Citadel?

More than likely, the school will cave. Someone will make it a "for the children" moment, and the school will blink. Once they let the kid in, Heaven help them afterwards. Those muff-munchers will own that school.

If the school is deemed to be a place of "public accomodation", then all religious symbols would need to be removed and prayer would not be permitted. Clearly this would be a violation of the Frist Amendment rights of the school and the church that operates it.
Take that!

Plus, as I said above, if they accept public funding via the voucher system, they could be forced to accept gay students, gay groups on campus, etc. Oh, what a tangled web we weave!

I believe SCOTUS made itself very clear several years ago on the issue of freedom of association.

Maybe it would be a good idea to let this child in and as they go through bible study she may learn how perverted her abominable parents are.

Hmmm, "public accomodation". Can I sue my local Muslim run restaurant if they don't serve me the tender pork links I crave at breakfast?

A Catholic school, he said, "is essentially a business that provides service to the public at large." "For instance, Catholic Charities doesn't only provide services to Catholics, it provides services to people who are needy," Fidanque said.
This is soooo stupid. While a school may essentially be a business, a charity is a not for profit organization. Just because they are both Catholic doesn't make them the same. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I believe SCOTUS made itself very clear several years ago on the issue of freedom of association. The SCOTUS also made itself very clear a little over a decade ago that state sodomy laws were constitutional.

That's why the vouchers have to go to the parents.
This is a must. It empowers the parents.
