August 30, 2003 -- No butts about it - the United Nations has decided to ban smoking.
The U.N., one of the last bastions for smokers in New York, will follow the Big Apple's tough anti-smoking law beginning Monday, officials said yesterday.

"Because of the agreement with the host country, we are bound to follow the local laws," said U.N. spokeswoman Hua Jiang. If this is the case, why have diplomats run up thousands of $$$ in unpaid parking violations, and why do they claim diplomatic immunity anytime one of them gets caught breaking the law.
The UN will be as successful with thisas they are with just about anything else they attempt. (Light up, boys.)

A lie, and a blatant lie. The land the UN building sits on was ceded away to an international organization. It is not part of New York city.

Why do liberals hate smoking?
To: kattracks
They will obey the smoking ban with the same fervor they apply to parking restrictions in NYC.

Why do liberals hate smoking?Because they should be busy paying taxes instead?
One would think liberals would embrace smoking and look upon it as a sort of "Post Birth Self-Abortion".
Sorry, but the mystery yet eludes me as personal hygiene eludes the French...

So these are the kinds of decisions they make at the UN while they dither around deciding whether to help terrorists by refusing to condemn them.

Liberals hate smoking because it says "This is my life and my body, I enjoy doing this, I am aware of the risks and accept them." They hate it because smokers are saying "Keep your laws off my body"
and actually mean it. (Well, here's hoping anyway. So far, smokers seem to have accepted outcast status rather meekly.)
In case anyone wonders, I don't use tobacco in any form and don't own any tobacco stock.
By the way has the UN started obeying local firearms laws yet? I seem to recall The Terrorist Enabler-In-Chief being surrounded by bodyguards with MP5s. Can't buy those in New York. And have they paid their parking tickets for, oh, the last thirty years or so? Not that it matters, it's our tax money anyway.

Question is smoking really harmful and who told us so?
