Forget those grim unemployment numbers. Demographic forces are about to put a squeeze on the labor supply that will make it feel like 1999 all over again.

be nice if I wasn't training Indians from WIPRO of india. When they leave in a few months they take all our production data. According to our management, this'll free us up to develop new technologies for our retail market... yeah right!

So why post it? "Look, here's something I don't know, that you can't read..."

It's old and was posted before, and seems like nonsense to me.

Be wary if that "new tech" product looks like an apron with your name written on it.
There's some new technology at Taco Bell, in the drive thru they play a recorded promo for some exciting new combination of beans, rice, cheese, and meat.

I just got hired as a temp, and start Sep 3 at Duracell.
Better than unemployment, but still not a permanent job...not yet anyways, heard great things about the company and how people are treated.
Got hired without an interview! I wonder which one of us is going to not like that one!
To: RaceBannon
Best of luck Race. Here's hoping temp becomes permanent in short order.

"Congratulations! I'm still unemployed. :-( Please pray for me."Two of my sons have been looking for work during the same period. One worked in southern CA as an ASE Certified Master Auto Technician. The other is in IT in Denver. Guess who got hired first? The mechanic. First interview. Amazing. He goes to work here in MN for GE on the 22nd of September, as part of their fleet management operation. The son in Denver just got a part time job at the front desk of an upscale health club, but it's still not enough to make his payments. The ways of the employment world are quirky at best. I will pray that you are able to find what suits you. I'm sure you have been online searching the job markets there. That is how son #1 landed his job. He found several "head-hunters" online and registered with all of them, submitted his resume repeatedly, and checked the progress every day. He is still getting job offers.

As a sales manager for a company that sell sensors, lasers, and vision systems for factory automation, we are having a hard time finding good people in sales. While this is not true for all, I have found in my little world that too many of the former IT employees still have a big attitude. Many make demands in the interview or clearly state that they do not want to travel when the job description entails travel! The company I work for is still hiring and looking for good salespeople. I cannot think of better people than Freepers! www.keyence.com Solid work ethic, loyalty and the ability to swallow your ego are a must.

Sometime in September, I think. The first 26 weeks ended in June. I'm on the 13 week extension. I got a letter in the last week or two that said the extra 13 week extension was only for airline-related jobs.

"coming"? I didn't know America was building her economic infrastructure. Everything I see seems to indicate we are outsourcing technical, professional, and manufacturing.

that will make it feel like 1999 all over again. 1999???? That wasn't a good economic time. The Clinton economy might not have hit everywhere by then but that was a terrible economy and very bad year.
