Producers are currently casting The Lecter Variation which follows the character - famous for tucking into some fava beans and a nice glass of Chianti - from the age of 12 to 25.
They think the Home Alone star would be the perfect choice after seeing him play a drug-taking gay killer in his new film Party Monster.
But if Macaulay takes the role he will have a job to fill Sir Anthony Hopkins' shoes.
In 1991, Hopkins won an Academy award for his portrayal of the bloodthirsty cannibal Dr Hannibal Lecter in the Silence of the Lambs.

Think of the possibilities. Young boy left at home alone, eats two intruders who invade his home.

I used to live in an apartment building with this punk and his brothers. They started a fire in their apartment that killed 4 people in our building.

The next sequel will probably have him eating his twin in the womb.

I used to see Macaulay Culkin on the Ventura Freeway on his way to the studio. His father (manager) was really tough on this kid. He was driven around in black stretch with the vanity license "Home Alone" on display.

I used to live in an apartment building with this punk and his brothers. They started a fire in their apartment that killed 4 people in our building. Apparently the fire cannot be blamed on Macauley or his brothers. According to the New York Law Journal, for February 7, 2002, "Fire official said the fire [on Dec. 23, 1998, at 124 W 60th St.] started in one of three apartments owned by Ms. Brentrup [Patricia Brentrup, mother of Macauley Culkin and his six siblings] on the 19th floor, apparently sparked by a short circuit in a wall-mounted heater. Two of the apartments were open and the door to one of them, which was the apartment where the blaze started, had been propped open. .... Ms. Brentrup heard her housekeeper yell "fire" and call 911. She and her children, not including Mr. Culkin, the star of "Home Alone", fled down the stairs, leaving the door still propped open."
When the fire occurred, Macauley was already married and living elsewhere. His mother was sued for having left the apartment doors propped open, which she evidently did habitually, the open doors having allowed the fire to spread. Additionally, the building management was sued, because (a) it knew she habitually propped her doors open, and (b) on the day of the fire the building's elevators and intercoms were not working which hampered the fire department efforts.
Apparently the case has not yet come to a final verdict.

I LOVE Hannibal Lecter. He is, in a way...a fictional way of course...one of my heroes. We could definitely use him now in the war on terroism. After all, he will not tolerate INCIVILITY. Plus he's very cool.

The fire started because stuffed a bunch of paper candy wrappers in the heater. The fire started and quickly jumped to a neighboring couch and x-mas tree.
Trust me, Mac was around the building then. I used to see him in the lobby quite a bit.

Will he overact as horribly as Hopkins did in the role?
