"penned by a critic as caustic and funny as Franken" Wow- what a maroon. I stopped reading right there, because while Franken may be fairly described as "caustic", I promise you that I have never laughed at anything he has ever said or done. He is as studiously UNfunny as it is possible to be. In fact, he makes that pious wimp Lieberman look like the class clown.

Starved for a humorous but factual dissection of the histrionics of right-wing pundits and the politicians they shill for, Americans are gobbling up Franken's book. Yesterday it clocked in as the No. 1 top seller at Amazon.com. Yes, another Franken classic (destined for the ages) is selling like hotcakes, folks. Gobble up your copy now before they're all gone, gone, gone.
What an arse.

Be on the lookout for my new book "Al Frankenshmuck is a Cheap Two-Bit Whore: Inside the Mind of a Dopey Opportunist" -- it will be full of blank pages.
Do you think Al will 'get' the joke?

O'Reilly reads every word written about him? Then he must have Google searched and hit some FR threads at some point. He'll probably be dropping in here too. Hiya, Bill. I don't care for your radio show. I'm more of a fan of Rush, Michael Medved, GG Liddy, and Lara Ingram. I'll listen to some Michael Savage too but I'm not an O'Reilly or Sean Hannity fan. Nix too to Glenn Beck.
Some of it is politics and some of it is personality.
That said, I find the gripes in this article to be empty.
Kids may be able to buy O'Rielly's fiction but I doubt that many express an interest in reading anything (even if it contains a pornographic sex scene). The sex is supposed to be between a serial killer and someone else. The columnist is upset that the 2 aren't married. Where's the outrage tht one of them is a serial killer? There are bigger issues at hand, doofus. It is a work of fiction. Read once and set aside.
Gansta rap targets young adults (some over 24 may listen but I'd believe that the majority buying it are 14-24). They don't listen to a song just once either.
Apples and oranges.

O'Reily is a jackass and ensured that the Buck Toothed Moron would have a bestseller. Just as the liberals trying to censor The Passion will ensure its success at the box office.

Obviously, O'Reilly has walked the same mean streets as Snoop in the darkened corridors of his imagination. But unlike the star of "Doggy Fizzle Televizzle," O'Reilly hasn't been able to make a lot of money packaging soft-core porn for the masses. Snoop had marketed harcore porn for the masses too. He doesn't star in the sex scenes but he is behind them. He does introduce the videos (his picture is on the box) and even MTV has promoted them.
MTV: Snoop Dogg Wins Porn Awards For 'Doggystyle' Flick
Snoop Dogg's triple-X video, "Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle," took home two trophies at the 2002 Adult Video News Awards last Friday, and the Doggfather and his entourage took over a fellow pornster's hotel room to celebrate. The rapper's first foray into the porn world won the Best Music award and was named Top Selling Tape of 2001, according to a spokesperson for the movie's producer, Hustler Video. The flick features 11 previously unreleased songs by Snoop protégés Tha Eastsidaz. Snoop cast the actors and wrote the score, and he can be seen rapping and cavorting in several sequences that introduce X-rated scenes.
BET: Snoop Dogg Wins Porn Awards For 'Doggystyle' Flick (By Joe D'Angelo, MTV News) A search on the internet reveals that he has 2 videos out so far. Snoop Dogg's Hustlaz and Snoop Dogg's Hustlaz 2: Diary Of A Pimp.
Bill O'Reilly has no "Letters to Hustler" book out.

a critic as caustic and funny as Franken. Like who, Josef Goebbels? Spiro Agnew? I know dead people who are infinitely more amusing than Al Franken.

Fortunately, "Lies" isn't just about O'Reilly and his compatriots at Fox. What "Lies" does best is profile notorious right-wingers from columnist Ann Coulter and Attorney General John Ashcroft to Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz and Pittsburgh billionaire Richard Mellon Scaife, putting their contributions to the coarsening of political discourse into context. The author even outs himself for a cruel, though hilarious, prank that he and one of his 14 Harvard research assistants played on the guileless folks manning the admissions office of Bob Jones University. And where does Al Franken's claim to "Fair and Balanced" come in? How is the book "fair" or "balanced" in it's coverage? It's a liberal's wetdream, there is no attempt at balance. Fox puts liberal pundits on the air to give air time to their views. Alan Colmes is on the radio here in Houston on a conservative station that wanted ties to FOX (for breaking news items like the pending war in Iraq).
Any critic who doesn't address the notion of "balance" in this book (especially after going to court to keep that slogan on the front cover) is a Rat shill.

Simpson has done porn too (comics). Wendy Whitebread was drawn for Eros Comics (a porn subdivision of Fantagraphics Books).
At one point, it was the highest selling title in Simpson's career (although he did it under a pseudonym, Anton Drek).
Here are some reviews from Amazon:
open wide, June 16, 2000
Reviewer: kidd_vicious from IL, United States
Another well written porn by Drek. Pictures are very, very graphic, which is more appelaling. The story line is cheesey, but aren't all porns? Brings new meaning to the term "Spread 'em!", November 11, 1998
Reviewer: An Amazon.com Customer
Bigger, better and raunchier than ever, this 144-page graphic novel collects the complete, totally offensive 'Wendy Whitebread', 'Forbidden Frankenstein', and 'Dracula's Daughter', as well as 'Anton's Drekbook' - a fest extraordinaire!

That passage says a lot about the left and their compassion that's such that they equate "cruel" with "hilarious." I wonder if Franken and his 14 Harvard flunkies also called the local tobacco shop and asked them if they had "Prince Albert in a can."

"This is the biggest audience I've ever had," said the artist, who is best known in the comics world for his "Megaton Man" series. Megaton Man came before Wendy Whitebread (no pun intended). His porn work sold much better than the other titles (which have been out of print for years).
I would have put him in a "Where are they now" article.
Someone at NPR enjoys this book. Who'da thunk it.

Sickening boot licking of Franken's juvenile production. So the reviewer likes trash-talking the right. This " heavily fact-checked tome " is junk.

Franken is about as funny as hair in your soup. Anyone who writes a book calling someone a big, fat, idiot in the title is extremely short on creative writing abilities. After reading parts of that book I concluded that Franken was just another lib who considers name-calling the height of wit. He completely misunderstands Limbaugh and naturally draws the wrong conclusions from what Rush says.
Franken is to P.J. O'Rourke as your local golf pro is to Tiger Woods. Coulter may exaggerate at times, but there is a lot she hits with all the lead she throws out. Libs only name-call with nothing to back their insults up. This writer is the same. They have nothing to justify their arrogance.
