El Plan de Aztlan is the plan of liberation! (from MEChA Berkeley website)

In the spirit of a new people that is conscious not only of its proud historical heritage but also of the brutal "gringo" invasion of our territories, we, the Chicano inhabitants and civilizers of the northern land of Aztlán from whence came our forefathers, reclaiming the land of their birth and consecrating the determination of our people of the sun, declare that the call of our blood is our power, our responsibility, and our inevitable destiny.

We are free and sovereign to determine those tasks which are justly called for by our house, our land, the sweat of our brows, and by our hearts. Aztlán belongs to those who plant the seeds, water the fields, and gather the crops and not to the foreign Europeans. We do not recognize capricious frontiers on the bronze continent.

Brotherhood unites us, and love for our brothers makes us a people whose time has come and who struggles against the foreigner "gabacho" who exploits our riches and destroys our culture. With our heart in our hands and our hands in the soil, we declare the independence of our mestizo nation. We are a bronze people with a bronze culture. Before the world, before all of North America, before all our brothers in the bronze continent, we are a nation, we are a union of free pueblos, we are Aztlán.

Por La Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza nada.
For the Race, all. Outside the Race, nothing.

If you are right, perhaps you should call all the CA radio stations because they have been saying "big bust" for weeks. And personally I don't give a darn how he spells his name.

.
I'm willing to forgive Bustamante's racist past if he provides fresh ideas to solve the current California mess.

His latest proposals, tax-n-spend and regulations, will hardly attract any new businesses to California. Furthermore, his spending frenzy will certaintly create a larger budget deficit.

It seems that removing Davis to get Bustamante will be the worst political play of the decade.

Maybe so, as a political play. But it might be the best in the long run as California sinks to the bottom of the abyss and (in my dreams) the citizens wake up and finally smell the coffee. Lets just get this disaster over with.

I have lived in California, and I love the place.

It would make me sad to see the state government destroying one of the most beautiful and prosperous states of the Union.

I appreciate you comments Jeff. No problem at all. Elections get more grave as the time goes by. We face monumental issues these days. Not since the civil rights issues of the 60s (before they were subsequently bastardized), or the Civil War have we faced issues that are volatile as we face today. At least that's my take on it.

When it gets to the point that we're considering putting a separatist into office, I just have to shake my head in wonder.

Of course he believes in more taxes on the whites and more spending programs for the chicanos ---- it's just like the slogan his group uses "Everything for the race, nothing for those outside the race."

Not to be paranoid but I seriously wonder if Davis and Bustamonte are secretly in collusion on this whole thing. The who schism thing between them seemed a bit contrived to me ever since it started.

I pray Californians will turn out in record numbers...particularly the LEGAL Latinos who love this country,

I would bet many of them have already left California along with many others of the middle class. That's what is happening in this part of the country --- it's not that Anglos are leaving the region --- all kinds of Americans are leaving the region including hispanic Americans and being replaced by people whose ties are to Mexico.

Some of Bustamante's contemporaries from the group say he was a moderate, not a militant member of the organization.

What could moderate mean to a secessionist group like MECHA? That only most Americans be killed instead of all if they try to stay in Atzlan?

A Chicano version of Robin Hood?

Most of the Chicano movement is very marxist. They see the whites as all rich oppressors ---- they're very into the idea of Robin Hood. In Texas, the financing of schools is openly referred to as the "Robin Hood" plan and is supported by all the hispanic regions.

Tempest,
I agree with everything you say, and say well, except for:

1. Performance in last year's election has nothing to do with this one. I think no one seriously questions the fact that the guy who won last year (Davis) will lose in this one.

2. McClintock is an impractical pipe dream.

I think it depends on which democRAT he's running against. Against Bustamove, a racist extremist who has already announced he wants to increase taxes by $8 billion, Tom can win.

People have said this is not the same California that elected Ronald Reagan. I say this isn't the same California that elected Davis, or there wouldn't have been a recall. (And yes, I live in CA). Californians got their rude awakening to the outcome of the policies of the libs big time, and they don't like it.

Prop 187 passed bigtime in California. Tom says he'll enforce it, Arnold says illegals should be allowed to stay. Who's more in touch with the electorate?

I've heard lots of Arnold supporters say Tom's the best man, but they are voting for someone who can get elected.

If it becomes clear that McClintock CAN beat Bustamove, will they then vote for Tom? We'll see.

BTW. I'm listening to McClintock right now as he guest hosts Roger Hedgecock's radio program (hence the delay in my response, well, that, a ham sammich, Costco green olives, and a good cigar). People who say he has the personality of Bob Dole (no personality, dull, drab blah blah blah) remind me of the people who call Rush a racist. It's clear they've never listened to him.

Slipping into my silver flame-retardant suit, Tom's communication skills and common sense remind me of another great communicator. I hope he can be heard above the "he's unelectable" din being put out by the Arnold camp.

FReegards Tempest!

"Only because Simon was damaged goods because of his legal troubles. And Simon didn't even put up a fight against Davis's smear campaign. And Simon was a wet blanket. In spite of that, he only lost by a few percentage points. He didn't lose because he was conservative. You need to wake up to that very plain fact. "

Is his attempt at revisionist history? Democrats had a record low trun out in 2002 while Republicans had a strong turnout at the polls. Simon still lost.

It was a grassroots conservative initiative that was -opposed- by the Republican elite. Now they're touting their poster boy as the answer, even though they dragged their feet the whole way. That does not sit well with those of us who went to all the effort.

Gee I thought that anybody who signed the recall was part of the effort, but you make it sound like such an elitest fair.

And all the Republicans would have to do is point out that the cost of the recall isn't spit in the ocean of $38+ billion dollars of debt.

I'm smart enough to realize EXACTLY how the media will portray this. Are you?

So a Republican in the governor's office guarantees that a state's electoral votes go to the Republican President? I don't think so. And if you review the electoral votes of the 2000 election, the states with RINO governors delivered for Gore, not Bush.

I never said that have a Republican governor will insure that Califronia's electoral votes will go to GWB in 2004. I said that it'll insure that the DNC will have to spend millions more just to lock in a state that they would otherwise normally have with little effort.

Vote with your conscience, not your ego.

My conscience tells me to put my pride aside and make sure that Bustamante has no chance of becoming governor.

Hover,

My PRIMARY concern is to make sure that a Republican wins this election. That's it. To that end I see McClintock as a potential spoiler. I hate spoilers, sorry.

Next up, I know that Bustamante is bigger threat than Davis I also know that he's a racist who refuses to renounce his affiliation with insurgent racist organizations like Mecha. I know that you know this too.

The problem is, is that you will be hard pressed to find anyone outside of conservative circles whom is aware of this. The problem is, is that this will continue to be the case all the way up to election day. The problem is, is that the elite media is trying as hard as they might to crucify Arnold while giving Bustamante a pass and hopefully edging a little known McClintock up against Bustamante.

They're playing the same damn game, that they did last time and I'll be damned if I don't see it coming. The more the media tries, the more Bustamante tries, the harder i'll fight to make sure that they don't get away with doing it all over again.

This is why it is imperative to vote McClintock. God knows how many more Illegal Alien voters will flock here if booztamonte or Arnold wins. Then, you can not only kiss Ca goodbye, but pretty much rest of the country as well.

The stand has to be made now.
