His positions on gay rights, abortion, and gun control, plus the fiscal promises he's made--the ones that anyone with a calculator knows, as a matter of fact, he cannot keep--reek of hollow, focus group inspired posturing.

Bingo! Notice how it took him weeks to say anything at all? He was busy doing polling and getting coached via focus groups. Cynical to the max. Suggest you rent "Power", starring Richard Gere and Gene Hackman... In one scene, Hackman advises his client to not be too commital on issues "in order to get the undecided voters, you have to remain undecided!"

Were Jim Jones and David Koresh, some of the other people you believed in?

Oh don't let the "cool-aide" talk get you down. This can be a pretty rough and tumble forum during these debate periods.

Nope. Were George Ryan and Kenny Guinn some of the other RINOs you believed in and supported?

I would venture that something like 99% of the populace has never sat down and developed a public policy on their core beliefs issue by issue.

Off this forum folks go about their daily routine and don't consider these issues except around election time. If you walked up and asked one of them if they believed in abortion their answer would be one word in length.

Public policies require a extensive response to this question and why. As long as this political novice addresses each issue before October 7th, that's all that is required.

I think it is wise to consult with other on the pros and cons of issues. What do you think we're hashing out right now?

This is a public policy debate. Some have made reasoned arguements regarding McClintock. Others have made reasoned arguements about a fall back position if McClintock is not viable on October 7th.

Schwarzenegger has as much right to discuss and hone his opinions as anyone else does.

Arnold's advisers are dominated by tax raisers.
He only lately and weakly came to his opposition to tax and increases. He no plan for cutting spending,
the idea his position of not wanting to raise should
be given much credit is very much in doubt.

He is saying what his advisers tell him to say.

And if elected will have the policies that tell
him to have.
He is just running to feed his ego and parade around
as Emperor Governor. And when it comes to policies
he will just say to his advisers make me look good.

And since he is listening to guys like Buffet and Wilson
than means he will push through the largest take
increase in the history of the state and since
he is a Republican and thus will eliminate most Republican
opposition there is no limit to how high a tax increase
he will be able to push through.

You may very well kiss proposition 13 goodbye!
He will do more harm than Davis has or Cruz
would since there the brake will totally be off.

Do you think it would be all that hard to cut a budget by 15%, that grew over 40% in the last four years?  I don't.  There would be the obligatory squeeling from the leftist groups that shouldn't have gotten the massive budget increases in the first place, but in a year or two they'd learn to live with it.

Cutting the current budget by 15% gives you about $15 billion.  Instead of going into debt another $9 billion this year, the debt would deminish by six billion.  Holding spending in line you'd get another $6 billion the second year, and that's only if the economy didn't pick up.  Over the last four years, California's receipts have grown by 23%.  If that growth were to escalate we'd be out of debt in two or three years with very little pain, and no new taxes.

There will be variations on this proposed and adopted.  This is how any thinking person would do it.  Still, it's impossible to give exact numbers until after a review process.

During Davis administration around 45,000 new jobs have been created within state government.  I don't think it's going to be too hard to find a number of ways to glean savings here.  I think Schwarzenegger's camp is aware of that.

The populace of this state won't stand for more taxes.  That's a given.

Look he's new here and just wanted to make a short quip. Good heavens, I don't support using that term aginst McClintock or Schwarzenegger supporters/defenders, but he was just kidding. He's on your side I believe.

Nope. Were George Ryan and Kenny Guinn some of the other RINOs you believed in and supported? Nope if I were a RINO I would be doing all I could to insure Bustamante's chances at taking the governership. Kinda like McNader and his fans are doing.

Then Bustamente should come in third and the Schwarzenegger people should quit worrying.
