How To Keep The 10 Commandments In Judge Moore's Montgomery Courtroom

HERE’S HOW IT CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED

In the event the ‘ROCK’ is removed and it looks like it can not stay long, there is a simple way we can still use our numbers to keep THE TEN COMMANDMENTS from ever leaving the lobby of the Courthouse in Montgomery without raising a single hand to stop the physical removal of “Roy’s Rock”.

Volunteers should be organized to appear in pairs in the lobby of the Court House in Montgomery day in and day out on a never ending basis. Volunteers will be armed with nothing more than a set of type written notes containing the words of THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. It will be the job of volunteers to stand and recite the words ‘aloud’ from memory in shifts from the time the doors to the court house open in the morning until the time they close in the evening. This must be a dedicated effort until “Roy’s Rock” is returned to its rightful place. And it will be returned.

In order to keep the proper focus each continuing recitation should contain a short preamble of introduction such as, “I am THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, a document which stands at the base of America’s system of justice and liberty for all. As long as I stand and recite the words of this document THE TEN COMMANDMENTS shall remain here in this place. “I am the Lord thy God... Thou shalt.. that is thy neighbor‘s.”

In this respect THE TEN COMMANDMENTS will in actuality never leave the lobby of the Court House in Montgomery. The ACLU will never be able to use the courts in this phase of the battle to shut this peaceful protest down, because volunteers will only be exercising their constitutional right to freedom of speech in a public place. And it will only take one or two persons at a time working in two or three hour shifts a day to finally accomplish our ends.

Should a volunteer become actively interfered with by members of the left the same authorities that took you away when you protested the removal of “Roy’s Rock” will now be obligated to protect you. Anyone offering to actively interfere with a volunteer will be removed from the lobby by the authorities in order to protect your right to public assembly and free speech.

There should never be more than two volunteers in the lobby at the center of recitation at one time. Others can stand by on the sidelines and should be there ready to take their shift when it comes up. Remember the old axiom, “Two’s company and three is a crowd“. Volunteers are not actively trying to attract attention to themselves but only to the words of THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. Volunteers will stand in the same place where “Roy’s Rock” once stood back to back. They will in effect become “Roy’s Rock” until it is returned.

There will be hecklers no doubt. Volunteers should simply tune them out. It is best if volunteers can work in pairs of one man and one woman. People are less likely to behave in an aggressive fashion with a women present.

Volunteers should not carry a Bible, hold up any signs or religious symbols or flash any kind of literature. The last thing we want to do is to give the ACLU fresh fuel to feed to the liberal media. And volunteers must do nothing that would provide city authorities with a reason to arrest them for soliciting on public property without a permit. Volunteers should have his or her script, THE TEN COMMANDMENTS fully memorized and hold nothing in their hands for any length of time.

The vigil should be timed to begin in the very moment “Roy’s Rock” is removed. Not a single instance of time should be allowed to pass without the presence of THE TEN COMMANDMENTS remaining in the lobby of that Court House. There should always be a relief person standing by to take over when a speaker has to leave for a few minutes. Volunteers should be instructed to pass out ‘no’ literature during these sessions and answer ‘no’ questions. Especially should they not speak to members of the media. They should merely stand and recite. Their activity will speak for them.

A copy of THE TEN COMMANDMENTS should be kept handy on index cards in pocket or purse just in case a person should go blank. Even professional actors forget their lines at times. When referring to index cards they should be put away quickly because persons with radical opinions and attitudes may be tempted to snatch any object of reference from a volunteer’s hand. The idea is to hold a continual vigil without incident.

WE ARE THE LIVING PRESENCE OF THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

This will put the ACLU on notice that they have won nothing. That they will never be victorious in their efforts to remove THE TEN COMMANDMENTS from the lobby of this or any other Public building as long as there are persons willing to stand and speak the words, to be THE TEN COMMANDMENTS.

This action will in time gather enough support and build enough momentum to set a precedent that will eventually challenge the court to hold a different opinion. We will win. But we must work with a passion and be vigilant.

In time we will point out to all men everywhere that the words of THE TEN COMMANDMENTS are not just words carved on a rock that can be taken away from a public place but are laws spiritually carved in the hearts of all true believers across the world irregardless of the basis for their faith in the Oneness of God.

A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY

Individuals wishing to participate should very quickly become so numerous that a volunteer would be required only to take off just half a day or less out of a single year to serve his watch. In fact the human resource pool should be so full that people will be fighting for a chance to stand and recite for just one hour a year.

KEEP THE FOCUS ON FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND ASSEMBLY AND ON THE FOUNDATION OF THE RULE OF LAW IN AMERICA

The Constitution was written so that each right given to the individual is supported by all the other rights surrounding it. By applying the right of free speech we can defend our religious freedom and at the same time deny the enemy any additional ammunition on the subject of religion. The focus should be on free speech and the right to assemble and on the foundation of the Law in America not on religion. The overtones of our actions will speak well enough for our religious heritage.

Please pass it on to any other e-mail address in your address book that you believe will be interested in the idea. I live in Texas but America is my home. I can’t wait to join you in this. If you in Alabama like my idea and follow up on it when my vacation comes up I plan to travel up to there to Montgomery to take my turn in the lobby. I am putting in my reservation now. So hold a place in line open for me. I love America and I love my fellow countrymen and especially do I love all the sweet folks up in Alabama.

The Ten Commandments are also still on the outside of the US Supreme Court building, and also inside the building on the wall above the Court's bench. No one has dared suggest that the Supreme Court should rechisel its statuary and wall to dump the Commandments.

In Washington Jefferson attended church at the "state-funded" Capitol and in Charlottesville he attended church at the "state-funded" Albermarle County courthouse.

I know you think his attitude shouldn't matter, but it seems to matter a great deal.

And his words matter a great deal.

actually, the commandments were in the judicial building, in a public area, not in the courtroom...maybe splitting hairs, but yes, I know it. I'm from Alabama, and it doesn't bother me. I like it there.

The reasons WHY any person exercises his/her First Amendment rights have no effect on the existence of those rights. (I agree that Judge Moore's tactics have been somewhat self-defeating, however ....)

I used this example yesterday on drive-time radio on the most powerful station in North Carolina -- Jerry Agar, WPTF. Imagine that Punch Sulzberger, publisher of the New York Times, issued a statement saying that his purpose was to cause the defeat of every elected Republican. Would that statement have any effect on the First Amendment right of the Times to publish its newspaper without government interference?

The answer is no. Attitude has no relevance to existence of First Amendment rights. The same point applies to Judge Moore, here.

... and a law will be passed to relegate all such "free speachers" to a "free speech" booth like the Hari-Krishners at the airport.

The monument could be returned as a piece of artwork memorializing the removal episode. With the addition of three statues of humans removing it, the display should be re-erected as a testament to the ACLU mission of squealching christian symbols in public. The new display should be called "First amendment defenders oppose first amendment."

How about a painting of the 8 judges standing behind the workmen removing the original artwork ?

Or a whole exhibit of "Justice Prevails!" with the painting, a multimedia kiosk with videos of news reports and interviews during of installation and removal and the rock itself ?
