God handed down the Commandments on stone tablets. A stone monument is perfectly appropriate.

I agree with that!
Moores issue wasn't the monument itself and most people have not gripped that idea.

And the first!
Is it any surprise religion is in such bad repute when the most fervent advocates haven't a clue what they are talking about?

My God isn't a piece of stone with words on it. This guy needs to read the second commandment. While I agree with you, law really did start with the 10 Commandments. The fact the liberals won on this is kinda nuts. Freedom of religion != Freedom from religion.

I saw the guy (I remember his plaid shirt). He was barely in control--but he did say--or scream--"Get your hands off our God."
I thought if he kept it up--and he did for quite some time--he was going to rupture a vocal cord.

Somehow, I get the feeling that quote is made up.

"Get your hands off our God, God haters!" yelled the wildly gesturing, red-faced man who initiated the chanting. My God isn't a piece of stone with words on it. This guy needs to read the second commandment. Does this sound like an accurate quote, or a subtle "oversight" insinuated by a reporter to elicit exactly the reaction you've had? Even if accurate, why would the reporter choose that one particular screaming person to quote, rather than all the rest of those standing watch over the monument?
You are being suckered.

Which is precisely WHY this particular rock needs to go away. For cryin' out loud, that monument is NOT God. The man has blown a cookie. People start acting like complete imbeciles. No wonder so many people think Christians are idiots.

Sadly, I agree with you. I was struck by the same thing.

"My God isn't a piece of stone with words on it." Can't argue with that. I think the ones who were saying that need to get a little better grip on what this is really about.
