As you say...a criminal with a gun is most often stopped by some law abiding citizen (and I'll wager that much more often than not it is not law enforcement) with a gun operating in defense of themselves or others.

The real crux of the issue is that very point. The people pushing for gun control know this too and they realize that for them (the criminals) to be in control, they must therefore disarm us (the citizens).

5 hurt 2 required ambulance other 3 treated onscene

Mercifully there have been no deaths, and I'll pray there are none. (Unless the homicidal gunman is one of the above five, of course.)

Not possible. It's illegal to bring a gun to work in Chicago, and we all know that gun control works...

Well, this guy obviously didn't get the memo.

Perhaps they should pass a law making it illegal for someone to take a gun and shoot another person. Oh, wait, they already have that law. Oh well, I guess the only answer is to confiscate all the legally owned guns. I'm sure THAT will stop the criminals.

Man opens fire at South Side business

Suspect holds police at bay

August 27, 2003 — A disgruntled worker opened fire at a South Side warehouse. Six people--including the gunman-- were shot. One victim has died. Two others are in critical condition, and the conditions of the other victims are unknown at this time.

Police say the suspect was able to walk out of the building. It is not clear if his injuries were self-inflicted or from the shootout with police.

A huge police presence-- including snipers, SWAT teams, and negotiators--were called to the one-story used auto parts business at 3912 S. Wallace (near Union) around 8:45 a.m. Police believe the gunman may have been scheduled for termination or recently fired.

Some streets in the area, near Bridgeport and Canaryville neighborhoods, are closed. Several buildings that would have been in the way of police snipers were evacuated in the area, said one witness. The employees at the building were told they would not be able to enter the building for another couple hours.

I'm not buying it - they have draconian gun laws there, so this didn't happen. It couldn't have. Not possible.

Multiple Deaths Reported in Office Shooting

Aug 27, 2003 10:36 am US/Central

CHICAGO (CBS 2) A disgruntled employee entered a business around 8:45 a.m. Wednesday morning and shot as many as 5 people, reportedly killing some.

Police surrounded the used auto parts business at 3912 S. Wallace St. and entered into a hostage standoff.

CBS 2 News crews witnessed police rushing into the business at 10:08 a.m. Additional shooting may have taken place at that time.

According to News Affairs Deputy Director Pat Camden, the gunman has been taken into Chicago Police custody in handcuffs, and appeared to be wounded.

It is not yet known if the injuries were self-inflicted or were as a result of police gunfire.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said one of its investigators was en route to the scene.

"We know there are multiple deaths involved," said an employee in the office who asked not to be identified

So this is Bush's fault, right?

The Democrats, especially Hillary, will be demanding an investigation of what President Bush knew, and when he knew about this. Al Franken will include two new chapters about this in his next book.
