A brilliant move. Escalante not only has a fantastically conservative approach to the educational system which should reassure conservatives, but he is a hero among the Hispanic voting block.

LOL...Mr. Hand? I had a science teacher in High School named Mr. Hand. We were so awful to him. He was about 50 years old and obviously gay. back then, honestly, we just laughed at him and we were bad. We treated him very badly. I wish I could apologize to Mr. Hand.

A man who has been through the system, fought and won...sounds like a better advisor than some PH.D from Berkeley.

He is NOT a Kennedy. I get so angry when people say that. He is the anti-Kennedy.

Fascinating. Looks like Arnold is taking a page from the W playbook, and finding good, solid, knowledgable & respected experts to surround him.

Executives or leaders who are confident in themselves always will look for the best. They know that they alone aren't the answer and that each brings a speciality to the total endeavor.

What's also great at this stage is that he's looking at ppl outside of the normal government process..... Bringing in fresh blood....

Apparently, Rob Lowe is a political junkie. And, apparently he has wisened up as he has aged and is coming out of the dark side to ours. So, he wants to get involved in politics, I think it takes a lot of guts to be a Hollywood guy now and work for a Republican. Arnold is tapping into someone who he thinks can help him and maybe get some of those "young women" votes? I wouldn't mind seeing Rob Lowe's face at News Conferences.

That "Rudy" guy can be commissioner of football. :>)

And that BraBra Streisand can be the "funny girl" with the big nose and wrinkled neck who stands next to Arnie's babes to provide contrast.

So, he was crossing his fingers when he went barnstorming for Ted Kennedy's re-election campaign?

I wish they'd make a movie where the teacher sucks and nobody learns anything.

Hey, Ferris learned a lot that day. One example: Never, ever park a Ferrari Daytona where you can't keep an eye on it at all times.

Only if a naked BraBra is there to provide contrast. Are you sure you can handle that?

What is a joke about hiring experts in each field rather than trying to pretend you can do/know it all?

He is a guy, but it looks like he is pretty smart too.

>>> Stein interview <<<

Thanks! His book "How to Ruin Your Life" is really humbling.
I wonder if Stein himself actually considered a run for governor. Love his reference to the Martin Luther King, Jr. quote:

"The time is always right to do right."

No. And I started in the what are you thinking of catagory.

I've heard more from McClintock than Arnold in the last few weeks, and I'm becoming disallusioned by McClintock more and more. On paper, he sounds good, in real life, he is being churlish.

Host: So McClintock, how does it make you feel that Arnold is mouthing all of the things that you came up with?

McClintock: (some immemorable drab thing that basically meant, nah nah, he is using my ideas, and I want the change to come, it's not important who gets credit for it, but he can't do it because of the liberal legislature, but I can)

I was waiting for the host to say HOW? but he didn't.

I did NOT jump on Arnolds band wagon immediately.... but I've been listening to him in the past few weeks, and while I am still scratching my head over the Rob Lowe appointment (although he DID get fired from West Wing for admiring W) I am liking how these things are coming together.

Yeah, Buffet is a socialist, but he is also a financial genius. It's possible to take one without the other. The schools need to be reformed immediately and this would be perfect.

Very interesting move. It does sound like W, getting experts in each field rather than bureaucrats (like Clinton and Davis).

I find this quite interesting. I imagine there will be some gnashing of teeth in certain campaign offices.
