Unfortunately, most political debate takes place along a line that runs from far left to far right, where in reality it is better understood in two dimensions ( fiscal and social). There obviously are more dimensions, but adding them makes discussion much more complex.

In the fiscal dimension, McClintock is probably more small-government than Schwarzenegger. In the social dimension, however, their positions are reversed, and that's where elections are decided in California (ask Lundgren, Fong and others).

The real issue in this election is whether we get a big-fiscal-government Democrat (Bustamante) or a small-fiscal-government Republican (McClintock or Schwarzenegger). I'm for the latter. This is vital if we are to retain jobs and the people who create them. The Democrat strategy of driving out businesses and high income individuals may ensure them a permanent voting majority, but there will be no one left to pay for the benefits their constituents crave.

Mostly I agree. But I believe a very charismatic conservative could win the state over immediately, without need for half measures. Barring that, I believe it will take time and patience.

If we get Bustamante, Gawd, I'm not sure I'm willing to stay in this state. All that'll be left here will be tourism and welfare-statism.

I just checked some of your other posts and there seems to be a pattern of baiting and then personal insults, baiting and personal insults. Most of the people that monitor this thread are pretty wise to your tactics. May account for why you are getting no traction.

I will still copy you on Tom reponse to the 187 question. I noticed you have raised your point on several other posts. Perhaps it can be put to bed shortly.

In the meantime, can you and kellynla please take your argument to the personal post level? It might not be as gratifying but would preserve the integrity of this thread.

Whether you happen to believe it or not, I came on this thread today to ask if anyone knew of something I didn't: whether any legal authority supports McClintock's position that he can, if elected, re-invigorate Prop 187. I'd love it if that were so, but I have no reason to believe so. (As to your notion that I'm "asking others to do my homework": no, I'm effectively asking for support for a claim the candidate made. It's McClintock's burden to prove what he says he can do, not mine to disprove it.)

I'm sorry you see it that way. I've had run-ins with two of the folks who frequent this thread, but at least from my perspective it's always been my blood drawn first. True, thereafter I tend to give as good as I get, but I hardly think that sets me apart here.

Certainly in this morning's case I'm puzzled. I really want to know whether and how, as to Tom's position on Prop 187. Apparently, that's "baiting"? *sigh* Anyway, I doubt you have time, but if you care to, kindly private-message me with examples of what you consider "baiting and personal insults," and I'll take a look and re-examine my posting habits.

I would like to ask you all to join me in promising not to call  for the withdrawel of McClintok from the race before September 20th.

The call for McClintock to withdraw right now, or the tactic of calling him and his followers names for not doing so, is not productive and isn't good for the party.

I am going to knock it off.  You should do so also.

Please post comments and articles that support your candidate's beliefs, not your opponents faults.

McClintock Camp - Supporters or Defenders

I would like to ask you all to please post positive articles about your man's policies and leave the Schwarzenegger bashing to the Democrats.

Folks if both sides would post the positive things about their own candidate, people would be able to visit pro threads about each candidate and learn there.  Then they would make informed decisions on their own.

McClintock supporters should revel in the fact that their man will win out most often under that policy, baring any outside factors.
 

What is taking place on this forum right now is not productive for any of us.

Both Schwarzenegger and McClintock supporters have been doing the democrat's bidding by infighting.

I'm willing to admit I've been as or more guilty than anyone with regard to this subject.
