WASHINGTON (CNN) --With one recent poll showing actor Arnold Schwarzenegger falling behind Democratic Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante in California's gubernatorial recall race, some top Republicans are urging other GOP candidates to drop out of the race.

Businessman Bill Simon, the GOP nominee against Gov. Gray Davis last year, dropped out over the weekend. But Republican state Sen. Tom McClintock says he's in the race for good. McClintock, in Sacramento, California, spoke with CNN's Judy Woodruff on Tuesday. The following is an edited transcript.

VOTE McClintock (Bustamante) 2003!!!

New Mexico appears on your map under the second A in AZTLAN.

New Mexico has Bill Richardson (To the left of Kim Jong Il) as governor because form Lt. Governor Walter Bradley (R) and gubernatorial candidate John Sanchez (R) could not close ranks after the primary to defeat the Democrats.

Depends on how Arnold does in the debates and handling scandal. Assuming Arnold holds up, none. If Arnold disappoints one way or the other or both while McClintock shines, quite good actually. Maybe 50%. If Urberroth drops out, I suspect maybe a 20% to Bustamante, and 40% to McClintock and Arnold each. Ubeberroth's comments have had quite a conservative tinge to them - capping spending increases to inflation and population, etc.

"McClintock will ensure that Bustamante's 40% is enough to win."

One could also say that Ah-Nold's 30% is enough to ensure a Bust-a-Moon victory.

McClintock has a real platform, a well enumerated platform.

But he is BORING!! I don't like him. I want Arnold. I will vote only for Arnold!!

It's the old libertarian con: "What's mine is mine and what's yours is mine."

I always knew CJ was a closet loserdopian. ;-)
