Wesley Clark Admits He Lied
Fox News | August 26, 2003 | Fox News

Posted on 08/26/2003 4:55:03 PM PDT by Peach

Wesley Clark admitted the White House DID NOT pressure him to lie that Iraq was behind 9/11. He now admits it was a Canadian think tank.

Previously, Clark had insisted that the White House called him, as the towers were falling, to pressure Clark to go national that Iraq was behind the attack. He has backed off that claim and admits he was "confused".

"Of course, they did mention that he almost started WW III, because he didn't want the Russians beating to an Airport." I remember that being discussed a lot on FR. That story was horrifying.

Did I say that it was a Canadian think tank that pressured me to link Iraq to 9/11? No, no. I was confused. It was a Canadian drunk tank.

Patterson's book was a great read and a Dean/Clark presidency would look just as ugly and frightening.

I've never seen so much lying going on in the media as I have since the Iraq war started. "Credible" news organizations print or report the most preposterous stories without verification, comments made by former Ba'ath Party members are accepted at face value, columnists deliberately quote the president out of context, and off-the-cuff gripes by soldiers are presented as "news."

did you read Patterson's book Dereliction of Duty?

Oh yeah! Made me twitch to read about the cavalier attitude of Clinturd. Made me mad as hell to read about how shabbily he and the Beest treated our military. I had heard stories about the latter before reading the book though.

Boy, you have that right. If it weren't for FR and the internet, I'd think I was the chemically unbalanced on!

Kerry does not look Irish in any way. Lurch looked more Irish than him.

The top army brass rudely blew off Clark's retirement party.

For now, Clark is content to just jerk his sheeple supporters around.

Maybe the VP role for him. His higher level supporters are not kissing his ass for nothing. They expect jobs later.

Yeah, Clark was perfectly willing to risk WWIII because his feelings were hurt when the Russians reached an airport before he did. Fortunately, British General Jackson flat out REFUSED to obey Clark when ordered to sieze the airport from the Russians. Wesley Clark---Perfectly willing to see the world plunged into a radioactive nightmare just for the sake of saving face over some small airport nobody ever heard about.

I think you will be proved right - that the wheels came off the Clark presidential aspirations today - IF we can get the reporters at least on the right to report this story.

This seemed like a huge story, to lie about such a momentous thing, but it's been lying dormant for two weeks since Clark wrote the NYT editor that there was a little misunderstanding going on. Guess he doesn't realize that with the help of the internet and a few Freepers, we have easily accessible direct quotes he made on Russert's show.

There was no misunderstanding - Clark told Russert the White House called him on 9/11 and pressured him. He's been repeating that lie for nearly two years. Now that he's running (most likely) he's afraid the lie will catch up with him. There are phone records that could be checked and he must have realized he'd made a big, big mistake.

I actually saw a Paula Zahn segment (when she was still on the morning CNN program) where she asked him if he was going to run. This was this past Spring. He ducked the question and she then went on to ask him if he did run would he say what party he would run under. He ducked that too.

This has been in the works for several months I think.
