"Some of you guys are a real embarrassment to McClintock supporters."
McClintock supporters have received their classical training, in political salesmanship.
The method learned in the training is to slur and slam potential voters. By calling them names, being disparaging and sarcastic, they will earn few votes, and as a consequence they won't be bothered with having to govern.
Outsider critic status is therefore maintained, along with "the Stupid Party" title.
In the end, I expect McClintock to singlehandedly earn support from serious conservative voters.
I further expect his supporters to fail to widen that support to middle-of-the-roaders, because they don't grasp how to do it, or why to do it.
Indeed, they are so abrasive and disrespectful of people, that they repell potential voters. But you can't talk to them about it, because they just don't get it.

You do realize that I am one of those McClintock supporters?

What I don't get is what benefit an Arnold victory brings.
By the way, if this poll is true, then I expect a lot of apologies from people claiming I'm helping Bustamante win.
And my prediction that Busty comes in third may still come about.

Pot, kettle, black. I've seen much the same by Arnold's supporters, and their treatment of McClintock supporters.

They reallly reallly believe there are more of them than is the case. The demographic that voted Ronnie in just ain't there anymore.

As a McClintock supporter, I'm leaving open the option of holding my nose and voting for Schwarzenegger for the benefit of the party and the President in '04. But the more posts like yours that I read, the less of an option it becomes.

I am a McClintock supporter. Over generalizations are tendentious. McClintock has some potential to widen his support in debates, because he is clearly the most qualified candidate to deal with fiscal issues going away. He knows about state finances in California inside and out. And this election is about fiscal issues. At present, I am not clear in my mind that Arnold will even show up. I'm watching and waiting myself. My quite liberal brother will vote for McClintock if he is in the hunt. He knows, as do I, that this election is about honestly counting the beans, and then trying to reduce the number of beans that are going down the toilet.

McClintock supporters have received their classical training, in political salesmanship. This seems to be a fairly youthfull (youthfull = ignorant) statement. In the actual real world, things are not quite so black-and-white, As you may learn in time.
BTW, McClintock supporters are mostly interested in the repair of the state's fiscal condition above all other concerns. To date, albeit with minimal media exposure, McClintock's policies are the most practical solutions to this end.

"The method learned in the training is to slur and slam potential voters. By calling them names, being disparaging and sarcastic, they will earn few votes, and as a consequence they won't be bothered with having to govern." I saw McClintock give an interview on TV the other day, and all he did was slam, over and over, the other Republican candidates --- yet he did not utter one word about Davis or Bustamante.
I sat there with my mouth open. As a die-hard convervative, I had hoped he would at least go after the Democratic cretins who cause many of the problems in California, but instead he choose to berate Schwarznegger and another GOP candidate whose name escapes me right now.
In my world, that is the sign of an embittered candidate. And it is also a formula for defeat.
