Arnold backers: SHOULD GAYS BE ALLOWED TO ADOPT YOUNG BOYS? Arnold says yes -- do you agree?

According to Lifesite, a Nov. 18, 2002 Associated Press article reported that Schwarzenegger describes himself as "very liberal" on social issues and that "He favors legalized abortion…and gay adoption". England's May 30 Guardian newspaper also quotes commentator Bill Bradley stating, "He's pro-choice, pro-gay rights… "

IS THIS REALLY AN ISSUE THAT FREEPERS CAN SWEEP UNDER THE RUG? SHOULDN'T WE DEBATE IT - UNLIKE ABOTION IT'S SOMETHING THAT STATE POLITICIANS CAN REALLY HAVE AN EFFECT OVER. SHOULD GAYS BE ALLOWED TO ADOPT YOUNG BOYS? IF YOU SAY NO, CAN YOU STILL SUPPORT ARNOLD?

Do you actually think people are going to go to the polls and vote yes on getting rid of Davis, and then voting in his second in command.

They don't have to do that for Busta-mundo to win. Say 45% support Davis on the recall and also vote for Busta-mundo. Davis loses the recall. Arnold and McClintock split 55% of the vote and neither gets the 45% needed to beat Cruz. Do the math. This WILL happen and we will end up with a Demo even more liberal than Davis.

Chapter 1:
Children
< Prev
  Next >
M. GAY AND LESBIAN PARENTS

No law prevents lesbians and gay men from becoming parents. Courts and government agencies may, however, try to discourage gay men and lesbians from adopting children or having custody of their children.

Adoption by Same-Sex Couples

A gay or lesbian couple is not legally barred from adopting a child simply because of their sexual orientation. Nothing in the adoption statutes prevents adoptions by same-sex parents, and several courts have allowed same-sex couples to adopt children, both through public agencies and private facilities.

The Department of Social Services used to be prohibited, by administrative rules, from recommending gay and lesbian parents for adoption. Although this restriction has been lifted, it may still be more difficult, as a practical matter, for gay and lesbian couples to adopt than for married couples. Public and private agencies, as well as individuals putting their children up for private adoption, may see gay men and lesbians as less desirable parents and refuse to place children with them.

Second-Parent Adoption

Courts used to rule that a child could not legally have two parents of the same sex, so if a woman wanted to adopt a child, the child's legal mother would have to give up her rights to the child. In many parts of California, however, courts have granted the lesbian partner of a biological mother the right to adopt the child as a second parent, thus giving both women parental rights. This also means that if the couple splits up and can't agree on who will care for the children, a court will determine custody, visitation and child support.

Although second-parent adoption is more common among lesbians than gay men, there is no legal obstacle to prevent gay men from adopting as second parents.

Second-parent adoption is an option only when the child has only one legally recognized parent at the time of the adoption. If the child's other legal parent is still living and his parental rights have not been terminated, second-parent adoption can't take place.

Custody

When there is a dispute between two legal parents (biological or adoptive) over custody of a child, courts are required to award custody based on the best interests of the child. California courts have ruled that a parent's sexual orientation does not, in itself, go against the child's best interests. However, this standard is subject to the discretion of the judge. Where one judge sees a healthy, loving home, another may see a den of iniquity, particularly if the other parent is willing to fan the judge's prejudices in order to get custody.

Tightening the borders is the most important issue facing California

Federal matter. There isn't a darn thing the Governor of California can do to tighten the borders. That is up to the Bush administration to handle and all you hear from them is crickets.

Making the state less attractive to illegals is another thing. Arnold backed Prop. 187. I would hope he would support any new legislation or initiatvies that are in the same mode.

Hey! I don't care about all this "rights" stuff. I do care about the little children, about whats best for them!

I am not against gays living their own lives just as long as they do it without stepping on the "rights" of everyone else.

As with the NYC mayoral campaign...... All candidates sucked. Bloomy seemed the lesser of all evils (now I'm not so sure). Now we have Arnold...just another RINO.

But ya gotta ask yourself....... Isn't a RINO better than a tree-hugging, baby-killing, pacifist, tax-grabber...etc ???

I would say yes

Thats the mentality we're dealing with with the McClintons.

Wow. In the space of this short thread I've been called a RINO and now an agent of the homosexual agenda....all because I intend to vote for the one true conservative candidate in this race.

Ironic, huh?

I'm always up for a good tease.

BTW, I've got a guy in my office who taught English in Japan for a few years. If he wasn't out this afternoon, you would have been toast. ;~)

Hey Churchillbuff, what state do you live in? If it isn't CA, then we Californians don't give a rat's ass what your opinion is on our election.

If you do live in CA, then your choice is between Arnold and Cruz. Cruz is in the back pocket of the unions and Indians. He supports every left wing cause there is. He has an IQ just north of Rodney Young. He dropped out of college twice and only got his degree last year. He belongs to an organization, MECHA, which believes the Southwest should be returned to Mexico.

Without a Republican in the statehouse, every left wing bill passed by the crazies in our legislature will be signed by Cruz, just as they have been signed by Joe Davis. The one benefit of having Pete Wilson as governor was that for 8 years, the Dems in the legislature could not get their socialistic bills turned into laws. That is why we need Arnold before we are all driven into bankruptcy.

What you are failing to understand is that close to half of the people are going to vote against the recall. Who do you think those people are going to vote for? My bet is Bustamante. So, there are already Bustamante voters built in, since they can't vote for Davis, and I doubt they will vote for Arnold.

My understanding is that if a voter votes against the recall, then they don't vote on Grey's succesor. Is that incorrect?
