Prayer request for Sara Grace (a preemie)

I would like to ask all of you to pray for my friend, Marijon's granddaughter. Her name is Sara Grace. She was born on June 6, 2003, 3 months early. She weighed 1 pound 6 ounces at birth. She has been in neonatal ICU since that time. At 2 weeks of age, she had to have a colostomy for perforated bowel. As you can imagine, she has had ups and downs, but as of last week was weighing a whopping 4 pounds! Last Thursday, they did surgery on her to re-connect her colostomy. On Sunday, she developed an infection, and on Monday her heart stopped beating, and she stopped breathing. They got her heart beating again, and she is now on a vent. The doctors say they think it was the infection that caused her heart to stop, but thus far, they have not been able able to determine the type of infection, although they know it's bacterial. She is on two different kinds of antibiotics, and today, 24 hours later, she is trying to breathe on her own, and they are trying to wean her off the vent. The doctors say the next 24 hours will be most critical. I would appreciate the prayers of all you prayer warriors for this precious little girl.

I'm not very good at fancy or ritualistic praying. I would just like to thank the Lord for the advancements in medical science that make it possible to give such tiny preemies a real chance. Not so very long ago, such tiny babies had no chance at all. I just know there must be a purpose to it all - why the Lord lets babies be born too soon and makes them struggle so at the very beginning of their lives. Who knows but that Logan and Sara Grace (a gorgeous name) may grow up to do important things. In any case, my prayer is the same for both of these babies, that they: grow strong and healthy, continue to have loving families throughout their lives, and become the productive U.S. adults of tomorrow. I hope each of these babies never knows a minute in their lives when they are not loved.
