Publisher Simon & Schuster says it's delighted with the success of New York Sen. Hillary Clinton's book "Living History."
But 75 Simon & Schuster employees won't be sharing in the celebration. They've been laid off to help defray the costs of Sen. Clinton's whopping $8 million book advance.
A company representative tells the New York Post that there's no connection between the layoffs and the former first lady's jackpot.
But the New York Press reports that it would take sales of more than 1.5 million copies for S & S to even come close to breaking even. Meanwhile, the publisher claims its sold only 1.2 million since the book's debut on June 9, with sales dwindling every week.
"[It] should be known that the result of the overpayment [to Sen. Clinton] is that 75 men and women no longer have jobs," the Press insists.
Perhaps Hillary can make sure that the workers whose salaries she coopted get an extension of their unemployment benefits.

Living History is on the shelves
Campaign workers and political elves
Useful idiots and polling tools
The structure's in place... now, for votes from fools.
Thru November '04 I'll be calling in favours
Doing late night deals to effect payment waivers. I hate the markets and the military
You hate them too? Vote for Hillary!
Progressive enlightment is what we need
Not Republican ways and their codes of greed.
Your taxes will go to a for the children cause
Once I've tinkered and drafted appropriate laws.
As you see fiscal plunder, fiscal rape and pillage
Just remind yourself that it takes a village.
Campaign finance? Don't you question me!
My masters want America on it's knees.
My reason for being is so easy to see
Socialism spreads poverty e-v-e-n-l-y.

I would imagine Hillary probably has a "let them eat
cake" attitude.
