PING! Senator Tom McClintock yesterday released the following statement:

"I am genuinely sorry that Bill Simon is dropping out of the race. He offered a perspective to the debate that will be missed. But his decision to withdraw intensifies my resolve to stay and fight.

"At stake in this campaign, is the future of California - and that decision belongs to the people of California and must not be left to the country club back rooms. If the most qualified candidate must defer every time a celebrity or a millionaire casts a longing eye on public office, we’ve lost something very important in our democracy, and it’s called merit.

"They said that War Admiral couldn’t be beat and shouldn't have to run a race against the likes of Seabiscuit. Let me assure everyone that I am one horse that is in this race to the finish line."

Looks as if the folks in California who say they would rather have a democrat in the governors mansion than a
Republican such as Arnold are going to get their way.

If anyone would like to read Tom McClintock's positions, speeches, articles and/or proposals to fix the mess in Sacramento please click here http://www.tommcclintock.com
VOTE4MCCLINTOCK or pay the con$equence$! GOOD NEWS! Mac qualified for the September 17 debate by receiving 12% of the votes polled by the Left Angeles Times over the weekend.
Keep in mind that this poll was taken before Bustamante had made the declaration that if elected he would RAISE TAXES 8 BILLION DOLLARS(at least) and before Bill Simon had withdrawn from the race. So Mac's numbers should continue to rise while Bustamante's should decline and Aunold's should remain the same if they don't continue to fall.

Arnold for California Governor 2003!*

*McClintock would make a fine Senate candidate against Babs Boxer.

Look at the bright side - with all the cutting off of noses to spite one's face going on, at least the plastic surgeons in California are going to have a big payday for months to come. Its an ill wind that blows nobody any good.

Arnold needs to ditch that gaudy ring.

He has it in all his photos. Incidentally, why is it that if Arnold is so cool and popular, his poll numbers remain at 22%, regardless of which poll or when taken?

Arnold people talk like he's getting 80% all the time, except when they want to badger us McClintock folks, in which case their only argument for voting for their candidate is summed up as "you suck."

Good job, guys.

So yuz guys are screwin' up the works....take from a guy who battled the Clintons street to street here in Chi-Town.
Now we's got a Demo Government here in Illinoize, and everything jus gets worser and worser. Even the name MCCLINTOCK in a death knell in the Leftcoast Winner Takes All recall. Arnold gives a great chance to grab the leadership of the Land of Fruits and Nuts for 2004. This Mc guy would make a great Boxer-Cutter...nothing more, nothing less....

McClintock can win. You people, who have decided what's best for us, (and had no hand in helping us to begin with), need to let the door-knob hit you where the dog should have bit you! Quite frankly, if McClintock were to bow to pressure from outside, to withdraw, he'd lose any future support he might have otherwise had for statewide elective office. We ain't drinkin' the kool-aid! 'nuff said!

Arnold needs to ditch that gaudy ring.

That ring is given by the CFR to its initiates after killing a paleo. Kissinger has one for every finger. :-)

Seriously, McClintock would make a fine candidate for higher office but in this race he will at best play the role of Ross Perot to Papa Bush in '92. Spoiler. A vote for McClintock this time around is a vote for Cruz...just as a vote for Perot was a vote for Clinton. Same result.

You ignored the request posted at the beginning of the thread. Why? Just to spread more FUD? Or is your ego so big that you have to shout down everyone you disagree with? What is the problem with you people?

Will you still call him a spoiler when Arnold falls to third place, and takes his deserved place among the also-rans?

I know I'm not following your rule, but here goes:

I'm not a resident of CA, so I take a more "nationally strategic" view. In that view, the best outcome for the state and the nation is the election of Arnold as Governor. Here's why:

Any R is better than any D, and Arnold has the best chance among all of the R's. With Arnold in the governor's seat, the D's will be forced to spend money in California in the 2004 presidential race. They will get no free photo ops with a compliant D governor. That's less money that they will have to spend nationally, which could lead to greater R gains across the country.

Now, I like EVERYTHING that I have recently heard and read about Tom McClintock. In keeping with my nationally strategic perspective, I'd like Tom to save himself for the next Senatorial election in CA. He's better suited to that role, and as a US Senator, he can share his principled conservatism with the rest of the country.

I said that McClintock would make a great Senate candidate against Babs Boxer. Can you read or is the tinfoil hat interfering with your line of sight?

"Please...no Naysayer Negativity and/or inane comments" that means YOU! If you don't know the problems to solve in your own state I suggest you start paying attention! Your BS will not be dignified with a response. Understand? Good! Now move along, we have more important issues than responding to you!
