Roy Moore: In God I Trust

Why I'm standing up for the Ten Commandments in Alabama.

MONTGOMERY, Ala.--The battle over the Ten Commandments monument I brought into Alabama's Supreme Court is not about a monument and not about politics. (The battle is not even about religion, a term defined by our Founders as "the duty we owe to our creator and the manner for discharging it.") Federal Judge Myron Thompson, who ordered the monument's removal, and I are in perfect agreement on the fact that the issue in this case is: "Can the state acknowledge God?"

Robert_Paulson2 "(roll the stone away... the tomb is empty... and there is no statue of the ten commandments inside.)"

Almost a witty tagline. However, it's NOT a "statue"; It's a stone marker, OR monument. Have you ever visited the 'Washington Statue' lately?

Rules of God are rules. You either must stone the adultress, and the sabaath breaker, or else... simply admit, we do not accept God's Old Testament commands to Israel as being part of our civil laws. and drop it.

You didn't need that last part ... unless you stone adultresses and sabaath breakers!? No, you don't? Some commitment!

Whether you produce one more or ten more Judeo-Christian correlatives to American law, this ilk abides only by its own delusions which fit need only their leftist One-World humanist agenda.

As I recently told another poster, when you make assumptions about other posters, you place your cart before your ass and loose credibility. I am a conservative Christian who has watched Roy Moore turn this monument into nothing more than a graven image which people are worshipping.

"I am a conservative Christian who has watched Roy Moore turn this monument into nothing more than a graven image which people are worshipping."

Nonsense! Neither Moore, NOR anybody is "worshipping" this momument; Nor is this monument a "graven image."

God's words etched on this momument is a symbolic solemn reminder of our American Founders basis and inspiration for our laws, our priciples, and our heritage.

Now tell me the symbols of "Christian" Fish, the Cross, and Dove are "graven images" as well? But, while you're doing your house-cleaning, why not have the Washington Momument AND Statue of Liberty torn down?

It's crazy, but YOU like many on this forum obsessively despise Judge Moore so much, that ALL judgement seems to be clouded.

Could you possibly build your straw man a wee bit larger and maybe make your ad homs a wee bit more ignorant?

Since YOU don't know me from Adam's house cat, YOU are blowing smoke. Find a quarter and call someone who is interested in your whining over the graven image.

I fail to keep them every day... though I strive not to. But then again, I also don't post the commands in public places for others to honor and obey laws I don't fully follow in my own life.

That's why the statue, rock , marble and such is such a waste of time, money and energy. Nobody believes or obeys those commands. They all work saturday, sunday, commit adultry, stead or whatever on some level.

and that is what the pastor who preached to them over the weekend said too.

Not everyone who loves God supports the concept of public idolatry in the local courthouse. Less than two percent of churches have the ten Commandments posted in their own buildings...

START there AFTER we get all of our own lives straightened out. Then people might take this more seriously.

Judgement it is said in Scripture, is to begin at or in the house of God.. His people and the ecclesia... NOTstate court buildings....

grow up, it's a idolatrous rock in a public courthouse and it ought to go...

having said that... I am done with you on this and leave you to your own very closely held "religous convictions" regarding moore and his marble...

..the good news is these masquerading political and cultural transvestites, elitist lovers of government dictates, and closet ACLU-symps have been flushed out by this one itty-bitty issue...

Bingo. And on that topic, did you hear about the wording of the sign, held by the counter-protester? I'll rustle up a link.

What a laugh. The founding fathers took pains to make sure you are able to disobey the commandment "Thou shall not take the Lord's name in vain" when they crafted the first amendment.

Laws against "Graven images" are also unconstitional

No other Gods before me? Unconstitutional.

Keep the Sabbath Holy? Unconstitutional.

Honor thy Father and Mother. Nupe. Unconstitutional.

Covet thy neighbors wife, house, ox, et. al. - Unconstitutional.

The Commandments are a part of our laws:

Don't Murder, Don't Steal, Don't bear false Witness and Don't commit Adultry.

In some states it may be illegal, but the adultry one is rarely enforced.

Sooooo, only 4 of the 10 have any basis in our laws whatsoever and one of those only marginally so. The remaining three complete no-brainers...Like lawmakers couldn't have figured these out without referring to the Bible's Ten Commandments.

Can't our courts and lawmakers stop this silly shit and take care of important business?

I am not a Christian. The monument does not offend me. In fact, I can see nothing in the Ten Commandments that could possibly offend anyone.

Are people being ordered to pray to the monument? Do they have to become Christians to enter the courthouse?

This is stupidity beyond belief!

Heh, I'm not done with you you pious little prick. I could care less about the monument, the Ten Commandments or Judge Roy Moore. You blow and steam about idolatry and commitment, not because these things mean anything to you. That's just your smokescreen for your "hate Judge Moore" campaign. Your little "more Christian than thou" trip.

Well this is about a lot more than your personal religious sanctimony or Judge Moore's! I don't care if he's a pompous ass or if he's playing the press for higher office or if he's just three bricks short of a load. None of those things strips him of Constitutional protection of his rights. If that guarantee is gone for those reasons, or the half baked reasons Thompson cites, then no has a guarantee.

As Thompson himself said in his ruling; "Chief Justice Moore has final authority over what decorations may be placed in the Judicial Building rotunda." The rest of the ruling is just excuses for ignoring that statement which grounds Judge Moore's right to exercise freedom of speech and religion in the manner that he did.

..I don't know why the press never reports that Moore is a West Point graduate....

Fred, we can only imagine how frustrating this must be for the lib media. They would have sent their flying monkeys to troll through every aspect of Moore's life. "Did he ever say anything against African-Americans, when you two were at kindergarten together?" But if they'd found anything, they would have used it by now, so there was nothing to be found.

That doesn't stop Moore's detractors on FR, of course, who can make up any lie from behind the cover of their monitor. Cheers, By

Snerk, the Preamble is part of the Constitution. It points out such things as the purpose, intent, direction, etc., of that which is being constituted.

Therefore, when the US Constitution says "promote the general welfare" you realize that is an important preview of intent.

When the Alabama Constitution says, "invoke the favor and guidance of Almighty God," it is only fair to ask who is meant by the Almighty mentioned.

The bottom line: IF it is true that Judge Moore violated this Constitution by placing the 10 commandments in the lobby of the courthouse, THEN it is also true that the CONSTITUTION violates itself by placing the words "Almighty God" in the preamble.

Many oriental religions do not believe in any "Almighty God." Atheism does not believe in any "Almighty God." There are polytheists running around who have not elevated any god to the "Almighty God" status.

IF the 10 Commandments are unconstitutional by the US Constitution, then the ALABAMA CONSTITUTION must be declared unconstitutional, BUT IT HAS NOT BEEN!

And if other displays, art, postings are permitted by the process that gets things put up, then it would demean religious speech to say that ONLY religious speech can be censored from the building.
