"Blanco is not falling," Kennedy said. "Everyone believed she would fall, but she is not. She stays there. I never believed she would fall. She might not get off 20%, but I don't think she'll fall. Just being female is worth 10%, and then she has the lieutenant governorship to run from.

Some people thought that the Democrat Blanco would flounder once the campaign got underway in earnest. But her French connection is playing well in Democrat LA, particularly in the Democrat SW portion of the state. Plus she will get a certain level of support from women because she is female. And the hapless GOP with three candidates cannot compete with popular Democrats like Blanco and Ieyoub. Ieyoub is probably more liberal than Blanco. I cannot imagine a general election without Ieyoub because he has the backing of the sheriffs, unions, and blacks.
