You know Norm, I have done my best to never say a bad word about Simon or McClintock. If they can present their views to the voting public and become the front runner, so much the better.
I only wish those two candidates supporters would spend half as much time lofting their candidate's views as trashing Arnold Schwarzenegger. He's a likeable guy. I don't like some of his views and have said so on this forum point by point. But in the end I may have to vote for him. I do not think he deserves to be eviscerated on this forum.
Everyone here revers Ronald Reagon. Hardly a one of them seem to be aware of his 11th Commandment, or (more imporantly) be able to abide by it.

McClintock is right around 20% now.

Basicly, you're right.
To: NormsRevenge
McClintock has every right to stay in it 'til after the debates and beyond. The "race" wont matter if Gray Davis is able to convince 5% to support him and defeat the entire recall effort. There needs to be a single candidate for this short campaign. Arnold is the one. McClintock is a decent man but has no chance. Any splintering whatsoever amonhst the GOP will give fuel to the Davis/anti-recall forces and make the entire campaign moot. McClintock must exit by Labor Day and all parties ought to say something nice about Arnold, if not explicitly endorse him.
To: ConservativeMan55
What's more, I've heard some of these "true conservatives" say that there's no difference between Busta and Arnold. If anyone seriously believes that, then they're too far out of the mainstream to have any objectivity.
The attempts of the true believers here to trash Arnold shows more about them than anyone else. If you can't make a case for Tom M, at least be upfront about it.
A guy you may have heard of, RR, coined the 11th commandment. No doubt you've heard of it...or was there no difference between RR and that Carter guy, or Mondale?

I've heard of the 11th commandment. I support Tom McClintock because I feel he is the best one for the job.
I don't happen to include in my decision making whether or not he's ahead or behind. You are supposed to support the person that best matches your values.

To: DoughtyOneCan you at least attempt to keep the comments above the belt ?

Certainly a worthy thing to pray against.
I suppose it is also possible that people would feel that angst toward Gray Sewerwater Davis and eeny, meeny, miney mo vote for anyone but him.

>>You might direct that advice to the fringers in this thread who have apparently forgotten Ronald Reagan's sage "11th Commandment" - "Thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow Republican."If someone supports McClintock for Governor, their not a "fringer". I just reminded you that McClintock received more votes then any Republican in the 2002 election, including Bill Simon!
And Reagan's 11th commanment doesn't apply to liberals or RINO's. And Arnold is both! A liberal RINO!
To: strela
He dropped out of the race today. What's your point?
That today's 9% can be election day's 40%. Not that I expect McClintock to pull anywhere near those numbers with Arnold in the race. As I said, this is Arnold's to win. I didn't expect Simon to be a factor once Arnold jumped into the race.
BTW, I'm starting to get on CM55 right now. He's not doing McClintock any favors unless he posts evidence. Are you addressing your people for their slurs? (just asking)
To: July 4th; BlackElk; ElkGroveDan
Nope.
It's a tacit endorsement of McClintock.

I appreciate your offering that you both like Tom. The pitiful part is you won't use your energy to help advance the cause.
You both really are asking a good man to just give up and let his own principles be compromised "for the sake of the party"... which lately, even on the National scene, doesn't care squat about conservatism or care much for supporting conservatives. So what does that say about you two? and many others on this forum?
The reality may be that "star" power or devisiveness may put either Arnie or Cruz in the Gub's office.
But to deny others to chance to run and espouse their views for the "sake of the party", makes me ill.
It really does show how sick the CA GOP leadership and its main money folks have become, imo.
