McClintock is in good position right now , Arnold has been in Hollywierd a long time and no doubt we will see someone selling a story trying to make a buck.
Being a strong backup #2 might be a strategic plus right now

Los Angeles Times poll shows... Beware of anything printed in the LA Times.

How could someone find employment in the entertainment industry and its supporting fields, without being a card-carrying Dem? Bruce Willis seems to have found a way.

Excellent!! I think I've got the answer to that.
Those who support Arnold are RINO's themselves. Hence, the reason they support a RINO candidate.

I think it is
AT LEAST A 50/50 CHANCE
that negative stuff about Arnold at this point
will ONLY end up causing the common man to identify with Arnold MORE
and against the pontificators and media types ranting about it as well as Grey Sewerwater Davis trying to take advantage of it.
And if Tom McClintock tries to take advantage of it with his smug, slightly condescending, self-righteous demeanor tries to take advantage of it--he will be terminal toast politically for a long time to come.

McClintock will be in second place in a week's time, and in first in two weeks time.

Agreed!
Simple fact: this is a poltical party that encompasses a variety of views.
The lack of tolerance within the Republican Party from a very vocal FEW within the party is what hurts the entire party, by fueling the fire that Republicans are "mean spirited" and "intolerant".

Bill Simon is to be commended for doing the manly thing.
If Arnold crashes when the sludge attack comes after Labor Day and the GOP fails to recall Davis, Simon would have gotten the brunt of the criticism for waging a vanity campaign. Hugh Hewett and all the "pragmatist RINOs" had already tarketed Simon for this scapegoat role.
If the GOP un-seats Davis, Simon will be clean and heroically poised to take on Boxer or something else, down the road.
Well played, Bill. I know it hurts, but you did the "right thing at the right moment".

Sheesh.
Give us a break. FReepers are way above average in the discernment etc. department.
Just because we articulate complex realities in the political world doesn't mean we are clueless.
Sheesh.

Add Clint Eastwood, Tom Selleck, James Woods and Mel Gibson to that list..

If the chioce is between Arnold and Bustamonte, It would feel fortunate if it were not Bustamonte. Wouldn't you agree?

Thanks!

Add Clint Eastwood, Tom Selleck, James Woods and Mel Gibson to that list. I read on another thread that Clint said that he voted for Grayout. Sad if true.

Most of the people on this forum would gladly watch McClintock sworn in on the capital steps. What I can't understand is why you would rather see BustAzltante voted in over Schwarzenegger. That's what all your negativism is going to gain you if you get your way.
As much as I'd like to see it, McClintock simply isn't going to garner the votes you want him to. The only alternative for you, is Bustamove in office for as long as 12.5 years.
If Schwarzenegger pulls out, McClintock will NOT get all his votes. People are registering just for the sole purpose of voting for Schwarzenegger. Do you think they and the democrats he is pulling over are going to vote for McClintock?
You need to think about this a lot more.

From
SFGate.com......
(08-23) 09:38 PDT (AP) --
Forbes said Simon planned to release a statement at 11 a.m. saying: "I strongly believe that the desire of Californians must come before the aspirations of any single candidate. There are too many Republicans in this race and the people of this state simply cannot risk a continuation of the Gray Davis legacy."
Forbes denied Simon's move came in response to any pressure from the party.
"There was absolutely no pressure, no phone calls -- this was a decision made by Bill Simon based on rational conclusions," Forbes said.
He said Simon would not be available for interviews.
Who the hell is "Forbes"?

I think Clint is more of a libertarian now.
