Gov. Gray Davis received a surprising boost Friday when a new statewide poll showed California voters nearly evenly divided on whether to remove him from office. What's changed? I doubt this poll.

Conservatives blew the election the last time around by putting Simon on the ballot instead of the more acceptable Riordan
WRONG. Riordan would have lost by double digits. Probably a worse defeat than the inept Lundgren. Riordan was not as acceptable as you think. This is the same man that was practically annointed by the GOP and the media with a 40 point lead and lost to newbie Simon in less than two months. Not a smart campaigner at all. Once people got to know Riordan, he was toast.

If McClintock can get into the Sept. 3 debates in the top 6 with 10% of the vote, it is going to be tough to force him out until the last week in October.

I always liked Simon, but he didn't stand a chance. I hope he'll take the money he was going to spend and put it toward a referendum to overturn the illegal alien driver's licences, when they pass that law.

Just as I figured, no answer from you.
The fact that you're trying to make Jeb a guy in "our income bracket" shows just a tiny bit of disingenuousness on your part.

My apologies, but the conservative wing of the GOP does not get to hijack the party and determine who is a 'real' GOPer and who is not. Conservatives blew the
election the last time around by putting Simon on the ballot instead of the more acceptable Riordan. And what happened?!?! Simon got blown out by Davis. And
naturally ALL of the conservatives' issues were taken up by Davis...NOT!! In order to be heard, you must WIN first.
I'm probably on your side in the overall scheme of things, but I think you're making some critical errors here.
First of all, I don't think it was a bad thing that Simon was selected as the candidate to go up against Davis. Second, I do not share the contempt for the Simon
campaign that a lot of others do. Yes I do think it could have been a lot better, but that isn't the whole picutre. Simon wasn't exactly blown out. His loss wasn't by
that wide of a margin.
Third, the state Republican party leadership DID NOT fall in behind Simon the candidate and level their big guns to get him elected.
Fourth, President Bush made one very short trip to California in support of Simon. He made between 7 and 11 trips to Florida to shore up his brother.
If Simon would have received the support of his own party leadership, and the President, he would have won that election.
As a party we failed Simon a lot more than he failed us. As for Riordan, I have no use for the guy.
I will cast my vote for Schwarzenegger after it's clear that McClintock can't win, but lets be honest about what dynamics led us to this point, who we support and
why.

Antother reason why McClintock will not drop out until early October.

Wait a day or two, I'm sure a new poll will come out showing the recall leading big once again. That's the nice thing with 10 different polls coming out each week. We can react to each one like it were actual election results coming in on October 7th.

Don't believe that for a minute. This is the old tried and true Leftist tastic-- they don't reflect opinion, they try to shape opinion. Don't believe the polls!

It wasn't directed at you; I knew what YOU meant; I was asking summer if SHE believes that we should discount anybody who makes more money than we do, which is what she implied in her response to you.

That is an LA Slimes poll....the same ones who asked me about my strong support for Pres Bush..."Do you still strongly support President Bush even though there is not a prescription drug benefit for the elderly and some of them have to choose between food and medicine?"
I am not kidding, they actually asked that. A caller on Mark Williams show the other night had just gotten off the phone from being polled for this survey and the questions were much the same variety. So 50 = more like 60 is my guess, if not more.

Well, if Arnold is causing an uproar over in the dovecotes of the DU, that has to come across as a positive. Perhaps a lot of them have secret crushes on Arnold, and they know they are going to give him their vote in the secrecy of the voting booth. But they have to make a public announcement of their horror at the prospect, so as not to gain the wrath of their compatriots.
To: habs4ever
Excellent. Keep insulting the boss. Enjoy that fast train back to Canada.
You don't do your candidate well with your tactics. Or maybe that's your goal to divide.
