MMR Titre test may show booster not needed...
If your child received the MMR as an infant and is due for a booster we suggest you do as several of our supporters have done recently and have your child undergo a simple titre blood test to check immunity levels for all three diseases (measles, mumps and rubella). Booster shots are recommended only because SOME but not all, children came down with measles after receiving the MMR vaccine. No problem with mumps or rubella, just measles. Rather than figuring out was immune and who was not and when a child should be revaccinated or tested, the CDC recommended a booster as children enter school. But, if your child is still immune your physician can write a medical exemption based on the results of the test. No religious exemption needed! This should be helpful relief for many of you who are waiting for single doses - which are still on back order through Merck!

Tainted smallpox vaccine will not be used in US
For those who may not be aware, after Sept 11th, our government issued a contract to Acambis, LTD for 54 million doses of a new smallpox vaccine, which unfortunately uses aborted fetal cell line MRC-5. (ACAM 1000) When Children of God for Life launched a massive public protest to the offices of Tommy Thompson, HHS Director, 30 days later a second contract was awarded for 155 million doses that would not use aborted fetal cell lines. (ACAM 2000) However, at a recent Centers for Disease Control meeting the government announced they will exclusively use ACAM 2000 for all 209 million doses! The existing Dryvax being given is also "untainted".

Volunteers Needed for Project

Japan's efforts to license ethical rubella vaccine in US - update
In July, the Japanese manufacturers of the untainted rubella vaccine, Kitasato Inst. met with Baxter International to try to establish a US pharmaceutical partner for import licensing and distribution of both single doses and a new MMR. Unfortunately, they failed to reach an agreement. Kitasato is continuing to pursue other US corporations and we are also assisting in the effort to let them know they will have a solid market for ethical vaccines. We do not expect negotiations to resume until the end of the year as targeted pharmaceuticals are in the process of mergers with other companies.

I've already claimed a religious exemption from hep B vaccination, which is totally ridiculous for the state to require (as mine does).
Am considering meningitis vaccine for college-age children however, so am wondering about its derivation.

I received the Hep B vaccine because I am a researcher, and I use human cell lines in my work. Human cell lines are considered biohazardous, and sources of possible disease.
I don't believe I've encountered bioprof here. I have "met" several other scientists, though, with whom to talk shop.
So, what made you switch to become a republican?
That's a very long story, which I think I should write up and put on my FR homepage some day. I was raised liberal, but despite that, was still interested in the military and joined up when I was 19. The Navy experience helped me to see that conservatives are not the evil fire-breathing dragons I had been taught they are. After getting out to go to college, I was an avid news junky, via TV and newspaper. Reagan was president. Every day, I saw stories/op eds about the horrible danger we were in with a Republican president--we were on the brink of nuclear war and total annihilation of the planet. Only problem was, that we didn't have a nuclear war, and I eventually realized that all the fear-mongers were wrong. Iran-Contra was supposed to bring Reagan down--and I was rooting for his downfall--but that, too, I eventually realized was just a political ploy by the left.
The strident pro-abortion view of the left also puzzled me--how could the people who care so much, who are such devout humanitarians, support baby killing? According to my world-view, it should have been evil conservatives, not caring liberals, promoting abortion. Etc.
I don't believe I ever registered to vote as a Dem, since I wanted to (as I thought) maintain my independence, but I usually voted that way. Then the Dems nominated Klintoon, a man I saw immediately as a psychopath (having known psychopaths in the past), and I knew that I could never again vote for or with a party that could put him forward as the best they had to offer. Thus, I changed my voting registration to Republican.
I should also give Rush some credit--by listening to his radio show, I came to realize that many of the things I had figured out and come to believe were, in fact, conservative. So here I am, exDemMom.

Hep B is a sexually transmitted disease "usually" transmitted through sex or sharing hypodermic needles, the average American doesn't need this vaccine unless one is a medical worker or whore/drug addict, why the govt. is now mandating this for children is beyond me.
I agree. We claimed a religious exemption for hep B vaccinations for our kids. Don't know yet if the state deems our beliefs acceptable -- but haven't heard anything to the contrary!
There may be good reasons for some people to get the meningitis vaccine. Though, so far, that one is not forced upon us by the state, it's good to have the option.
