Press Release: ELF STRIKES THREE TIMES IN ONE NIGHT AGAINST SUVs

For Immediate Release

Two separate attacks against urban sprawl have been reported to the Through media reports, the ELF Press Office has been made aware of three ELF actions occuring in the early morning hours of August 22, 2003. Although the ELF Press Office has received no communications about these actions from the persons responsible, spraypainted signatures at all scenes indicates claims of responsibility by ELF activists.

The actions include:

Arcadia, California - Rusnak Mercedes Benz. Ten S.U.V.s were spraypainted with "terrorist," "killer," and "ELF". Duarte, California - Duarte Mitsubishi. The dealership building and approximately twenty vehicles were painted with "ELF" and the phrases "gross polluter" and "We (heart) pollution". West Covina, California. An early morning fire ripped through a GM autodealership, destroying and damaging several SUVS including several Hummer H2s. A warehouse on the site was also destroyed by fire. Messages left at the scene there included "I (heart) Pollution," "American Wastefullness" and "ELF". The Earth Liberation Front is an international underground organization that uses direct action in the form of economic sabotage to stop the destruction of the natural environment. Since 1997, the ELF in North America has caused over $100 million in damages to entities who profit from the destruction of life and the planet.

Any communications received by the ELF Press Office will be forwarded on to interested members of the press. Included in this email is a background piece written in November, 2002 to discuss some of the motivations behind the ELF's targetting of SUVs.

Legal Action Against David Barbarash Dropped

Several animal rights sites reported in March that the Canadian and U.S. governments had dropped all legal efforts against David Barbarash stemming from the July 30, 2002 raid on Barbarash's home which resulted in the seizure of property belong to Barbarash.

In December a British Columbia Supreme Court Judge quashed the search warrant that the police used in the raid. That warrant turned out to be based solely on a single photocopied newspaper article which the judge ruled did not constitute a sufficient basis for the warrant.

With the warrant thrown out, Canadian and U.S. counsel Matthew Williams had little choice but to file a Notice of Abandonment with the British Columbia Supreme Court on March 17 saying that it was ending its legal proceedings against the former Animal Liberation Front spokesman.

This is the second time in recent years that the Canadian government initiated legal proceedings against Barbarash only to have to embarrassingly withdraw them. Barbarash and fellow activist Darren Thurston were suspects in the mailing of razor blades and threatening letters to fur farmers and scientists.

Police had to drop charges against Thurston and Barbarash in September 2000, however, after the government was unwilling to disclose evidence from a Canadian intelligence agency's investigation of the duo.

Thurston and Barbarash spent time in jail in 1992 after being convicted of stealing 29 cats from a laboratory at the University of Alberta. Barbarash has bragged in the past about taking part in numerous ALF actions.

Here are three pictures from the ELF damage today.  The picture on the right is a fire started in a large business complex a few months back.
You can right click, view, to see a larger 400x300 version of these.

The photo on the left shows three Humvees parked side by side, with one directly in front of the two.  Note the burned out hulk in the middle of the three.  You'll also note heat damage on the Humvees to the left and right of it.

The photos in the middle are from a warehouse on a vehicle lot about 15 miles east of my location.  You'll not a burned out hulk of a SUV in photo two and the burned out warehouse itself in photo 03.

In photo four, ELF has torched a large business complex that was coming close to completion.  It may look small, but this is actually a helicopter shot from a great distance.  This was a large business complex.

These fires put more polutants into the air than thousands of SUV's would have over a few years.  This is all out war on capitalism, not wasteful people or SUVs.

Yeah, really. Well Rudolph did actually kill & maim people, I guess the heat won't really get turned on ELF/ALF until they do the same. Which of course, eventually they will do.

I knew it was a bad thing years ago that the "animal rights" people were treated as harmless do-gooders by the feckless media. As usual, it has only encouraged them. Now they are into serious crime.

RICO, open and shut, but don't count on any major enforcement. These are violent totalitarians, using sabotage and arson to enforce conformity to what is actually an agenda of genocide. Their movement has crippled the space program for decades. It literally destroyed the shuttle Columbia when the public relations power of its voodoo science led to the use of inferior adhesives on the shuttle's fuel-tank insulation.

This is nothing compared to the damage the celebrity-media driven eco-movement causes in the Third World, where millions are at risk from the retardation of development, the denial of critical materials, and the constant campaign against critically needed new infrastructure. ELF and its media/activist allies like to pretend that they don't target people. On the contrary, they are mass murderers many times over. They have blood on their hands, a lot of it.

This is not a conspiracy, but a widespread recognition of mutual interest among one of the most ruthless large groups of people in history, the advertising/media/entertainment complex. The advertising industry; and hence, the media; profit enormously from the imagery and trappings of the eco-wacky movement, and that is literally all that matters to them. Eco-paranoia has everything for the ad-lords: fear, infantile indulgence, luddite romanticism, self-righteous authoritarianism, elitist status-seeking, and the superficial appearance of rebellion and non-conformity. ELF, and other "progressive" terrorists like Greenpeace, are the elite commando arm of the Hollywood/Madison Avenue Cultural Axis.
