If opponents want to refer something that would kick kids out of school and people out of nursing homes if it fails, I wish them well, Schrader said.Translated from LibSpeak to English....
"We tried to raise taxes with your approval. You denied us. We will now raise taxes regardless of your vote while relying on the ol' Lib standby.."If you deny this increase the Elderly and Kids will suffer".

The amount of tax amount per worker being quoted in the press is entirely misleading. The real number is heavily weighted against the two income household. In that case the amount is much higher....especially when you get up above $150K
Not that long ago Oregon voters overturned a tax hike only about one third of what this most recent one is. To make matters worse, Multnomah County recently passed an income surcharge which is supposed to go away if this most recent statewide measure takes effect.
The rest of the Oregon already resents Multnomah County (city of Portland). So, unfortunately, getting the signatures and overturning this tax hike is something one can easily bank on....and everyone out here with anything more than simple brain stem activity knows it.
I actually was hoping the tax hike would stick and am a conseravative. Ya see I live in Clark county across the Columbia river in Washington state where, unlike Oregon, we have no income tax, no corporate tax and no capital gains ta...and, as a bonus, we can do all of our shopping across the river in Oregon where they have no sales tax.
Easy to see why Clark county is the fastest growing county in Washington. All my neighbors are ex-Oregonians. I bailed on Oregon three years ago and bought a bunch of building lots here. And we have been having "lots" of fun!

Now, why doesn't Mannix run against Ron Wyden for the U.S. Senate? Maybe he can beat that Portland liberal.

Mike Connors bump.

Cause Wyden (a Dem) and Gordon Smith (a Pub) decided a number of years ago to do a tag team in front of the voters each election cycl...so they would each help each other just a bit on their image with voters from opposition party.
Wyden is bad but he is almost unbeatable since Smith is willing to stick it too all other Republicans in this fashion.

The sick part is that it's not just an income tax surcharge. Got any relatives in long-term care? There's a new 6% tax on that. There's a whole grab bag of new taxes that no one seems to be covering.

I like what Lars Larson said today the legislature waited intill President Bush had left the area yesterdy before voting this outrage in.
this state has the highest uneployment in the country were taxed to the gills and then were taxed some more and then we BOHICA and the SOB's still arnt happy.
they are by law to balance the state budget and refuse to so.
and what about the i wont raise taxes govenor ? he's a bald face liar and so are all those RINO'S. maybe should start are own recalls here.

Do you know if there is a petition that can be downloaded, signed and then mailed back to the HQ? I haven't seen a mention of a website that gives that info.
I think that a lot of the success of the California recall was due to the easy availability of the petitions.

"...said Corcoran, the only Democratic legislator to oppose it not because it raises taxes too much, but because it doesnt raise them enough." What is this? Some Dem "rite of passage" that requires liberal legislators to exhibit their "courage" by publicly favoring higher taxes?
Or do they think this is the way to get elected? Or, saints preserve, the way to govern?
