And if this had happened at Penn State, he would have been kicked off the team, for far less. Recall Curtis Enis missing the bowl game because of a new suit.

I have to agree.

I heard he was going to bolt to another school.

Not likely.

This Dennehy thing is really shaking out some evil.

Yeah, I understood the first report to be honest until someone smacked him in the head and reminded him of the NCAA. Then he tried to, uh, "amend."

The man's as smart as a sack of gravel.

Tressel won't do that, he's loyal to his players. Possibly to a fault but it's why they play so hard for him.

Clarrette is a spoiled piece of crap and I'd love to see him gone but they won't run him out.

Personally I hope the Big 12 kicks out Baylor and upgrades by adding TCU(top 25 football program now). The only reason Baylor was included in the first place were the 2 most powerful politicians in Texas had Baylor backgrounds.

Yeah, because lord knows we didn't have any tough games last year. God I hate it when people from Texas whine, it's so unbecoming of that state.

First of all, let me say, OSU deserved to be the champions. No one else.

But that being said, the NCAA system of finding a champion is a flat-out joke, though that's not OSU's fault. Please show me what hard games, other than the championship game, that OSU had.

The NBA will institute a rule soon, it will be challenged, and the NBA will win. Jessee Jackass will cry racism and claim its an assault upon young black men.

Ironically, racism is already being implied in Clarett's case. Or am I wrong in assuming that the appearance of Jim Brown (complete with psuedo-African hat thingy on his head) at a meeting with young Clarett has no racial overtones?

This kid does not belong on a Jim Tressel team, and, one way or another, he won't be for long.

Go BUCKS!

The question is, how many games did the NCAA want him out for and how many will OSU keep him out for?

I would like to think that they wanted him out for 4 and we suspended him for six. A message needs to be sent.

I'm a life-long UW fan but I respect OSU for even being willing to play those schools in the same season.

True. Much better than many schools can say. But for any OSU fan to say they weren't incredibly fortuitous in the way their schedule fell last year, is just dumb. Again though, that is nothing OSU could help (for the most part) and they deserved to be the champions.

Nah, you are not wrong. Its almost always "racism" in issues like this concerning minority athletes.

Personally, I'd like to see the NCAA program scrapped in favor of a capitalistic system that takes out the exploitation of these athletes and gives them wages for their play.

Statement From Director of Athletics Andy Geiger
Maurice Clarett to face multiple-game suspension

Aug. 22, 2003

COLUMBUS, Ohio: Ohio State Director of Athletics Andy Geiger said today that sophomore tailback Maurice Clarett would be allowed to resume practicing, possibly as early as Sunday, and would begin the process of being phased back into the football program.

However, Geiger said Clarett faces a multiple-game suspension and is not eligible to play in any games at this time.

"We received a letter from the NCAA on Thursday with a list of allegations about Maurice," Geiger said. "I met with Maurice earlier this morning and went over those allegations with him.

"Our next step is to make a recommendation to the NCAA concerning the length of Maurice's suspension. Then, we wait for their reply.

"Until then, Maurice will be allowed to practice, remain on scholarship and attend classes once school starts, but will not be allowed to play in games.

"We have no way of knowing how long this process will take, but it will be a multiple-game suspension."

Continued Geiger, "I want to emphasize that throughout today's meeting, Maurice repeatedly stressed how much he wants to return to this team and rejoin his teammates.

"I talked with Coach (Jim) Tressel following my meeting with Maurice and he indicated he would welcome Maurice back on these terms."

Yeh, a free education, room and board, and a chance to make millions is such exploitation. Cry me a river.

They are students first, athletes second. Your vision will never come to pass, and I rarely say "never".

Working backwards from the Fiest bowl.

#9 Michigan - always a tough game and they came to play.
#19 Minnesota
#17 Penn State
Wisonsin (unranked at the time we played them)
#10 Washington State

These are the games that I would have considered tough games.
