(Burke, Va.) - An Annandale woman was critically injured Thursday morning in a McDonald's drive-through when she partially exited her minivan to retrieve some dropped change and the vehicle lurched forward, pinning her head in the car's door.
According to the manager of the restaurant, the woman had pulled up to the payment window at about 8:30 a.m., and the accident occurred while she was in the process of paying for her order

Will McDonald's now have to post a warning at their drive-throughs stating: PLEASE PUT VEHICLE IN PARK ?

Seriously, I hope she'll be OK.

Well if it was the McDonalds clerk that dropped the change, I bet you there will be a lawsuit!

PS - Was she in an SUV?

I pray that she will be ok, also, but a: "Don't do that!" is in order.

She was in a minivan. Does that count?
To: renosathug
Did she have a cup of hot coffee squeezed between her legs?

Well, if it was the McDonalds clerk that dropped the change, I bet you there will be a lawsuit! Now they'll have to print warnings on the change.

I wonder why they put the coins on top of the bills and hand to you as one unit. This results in the coins slipping off. It's clear these are their instruction as they all do it, McDonalds, Hardies, Taco Bell, etc.
Just wondering.

to retrieve some dropped change and the vehicle lurched forward, pinning her head in the car's door. Tough price to pay for some spare change. I guess it could have happened to any one of us.
Except that I could care less about change, and if it dropped out of a drive through window, I would leave it there.
I routinely pass by change I come across in parking lots, checkstands, etc. And pennies? They go in the trash with the coffee grounds and orange peels. I just don't give a damn about change. Call me weird.

Where was the Hamburglar at the time?
To: renosathug
Probably the same kind of idiot that drops change at the toll booth and gets out to retrieve it.

I only pick up the pennies that are heads-up for good luck, other coins it doesn't matter. Now I won't go out of my way for loose change on the ground, but if I spot it it's mine. Except for those pennies that aren't heads-up that is! :-)
