Madeleine Albright in Scathing Today Show Attack on Bush Foreign Policy (Cleaning Lady Alert)
The Today Show

In an interview with The Today Show's Matt Lauer, Madeleine Albright just completed a scathing attack on the policy of the Bush administration in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Highlights:
She understood the "why" but not the "why now" of the war on Saddam. He was not "an imminent threat."
This was a war "of choice, of American dominance."
She agreed with the tenor of the op-ed piece in yesterday's NY Times to the effect that while there was no Iraq-Al Qaeda link before the war, there is now. Said Albright: "We've turned Iraq into a breeding ground for terrorism."
She agreed with Lauer's suggestion that our policy in Afghanistan has been a "failure," stating that Karzai "looks more like the mayor of Kabul than the President of Afghanistan."
Lauer closed with an excerpt from Albright's article in the current edition of Foreign Affairs, to the effect that if Al Gore had been elected, things would have gone better in Afghanistan. We would have gone in there with a NATO coalition. "Democrats have a reputation for finishing the job."

All in all, a disgraceful performance by this pompous gasbag, whose "policy" on terrorism consisted of declining an invitation from the Saudis to take OBL on a silver platter, and lobbing a few cruise missiles at an aspirin factory.
Hey, don't forget the mint on the pillow, lady.

I guess Dishwashing Liquid Madge hadn't heard of our having snagged Chemical Ali. As Ronald Reagan was fond of saying, " There [s]he goes again!"

"Democrats have a reputation for finishing the job." Where to begin with the comments on this one? Start with a blue dress? Whitewater? The Clinton Hit List?

Good point about us setting the agenda. The underlying thrust of her appearance was a call not only for the US to broaden the coalition, but to give up authority in Iraq to the UN and other "allies."

This was a war "of choice, of American dominance." And her problem with this is? I guess she'd rather sit back and wait for another 9-11, and then she could accuse Bush of doing nothing.

Great point. In the Dem view of the world, it's more important to "play nice" than to defeat threats to the US.
Then again, isn't Maddy ardently "pro-choice"?

I guess that's the way she looks at. The Democrats' hopes rest on America having bad luck. Successes out of Iraq muck up their plans for clawing themselves back into power. No wonder she looked p*ssed this morning.

On a related, contrasting note - Brit Hume asked his panel of commentators yesterday if the U.S. being in Iraq wasn't tending to keep terrorism in the Mideast, rather than have it migrate to the Midwest. You've got to love Brit.

No wonder she looked p*ssed this morningIn fairness, I believe that, tragically, her latest cosmetic surgery has created a permanent scowl. Perhaps she can retain John Edwards to sue the surgeon.

"We've turned Iraq into a breeding ground for terrorism."If only we could return to the days of yore when nothing happened.

In all honesty, I don't think ANY Democrat looks happy.

Sorry I missed that one. What a contrast with liberals instinctive reaction to blame the US for everything in this world.

I love this idiotic statement. She must have forgotten the part where Saddam paid millions to homocide bombers in Israel, a tab now picked by the Saudis.
