McKinney accepts position at Cornell

Cynthia McKinney, the feisty former 4th District congresswoman, is headed for the Ivy League.
Officials at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., confirmed that McKinney has been named a visiting professor at the institution. Under her contract, she will serve as a guest lecturer for three years, beginning this fall.
"Cynthia McKinney is a person of considerable achievement in the political sphere," said Porus Olpadwala, dean of Cornell's School of Architecture, Art and Planning, who served as chairman of the 13-member faculty committee that selected McKinney for the part-time professorship.
"She is an internationally renowned advocate for voting rights and human rights. She has taken clear stands on a number of critical issues and been a strong voice in Congress," Olpadwala said.
McKinney could not be reached for comment.
Longtime political observers have speculated that the former Democratic congresswoman might opt to run for office again -- either for her old DeKalb County-based seat or as a Green Party candidate for president. Her Cornell appointment doesn't necessarily put an end to such speculation because she is required to spend only several weeks a semester at the school.
McKinney has filed a statement of candidacy with the Federal Elections Commission so she can raise funds for a possible 2004 rematch with Denise Majette, the former State Court judge who defeated her in last year's Democratic congressional primary.
Last week, McKinney lost a court battle to have the August 2002 Democratic primary overturned because of "a malicious crossover" by Republicans to influence the outcome of the primary. A federal judge rejected the lawsuit.
McKinney's father, Billy, said his daughter hasn't made up her mind about running again.
"She's being courted heavily by the Green Party. That's kind of way out, in my opinion," said Billy McKinney, who is a former Democratic Georgia state legislator. "If she runs again, it would probably be for her old seat."
McKinney said his daughter still lives in the Hidden Hills area of DeKalb County, but "is out of town almost constantly."
For example, she was scheduled to speak Tuesday at a "Bring Our Children Home Now" rally in Brooklyn, N.Y. against the war in Iraq.
Her public appearances have taken her even farther away, including rally appearances in San Francisco, Spain and Italy, where her son, Coy, is attending school and planning a future in professional soccer.
Whatever her plans, Billy McKinney said, no one should ever discount the possibility of a return to public life for Cynthia McKinney.
"Politics is in her blood," the elder McKinney said.

What a waste of tuition money. If I was a student at Cornell, or the parent of a child at Cornell, I'd be mighty angry that the school chose to waste my tuition money on a know-nothing, militant-muslim-loving, useless-piece-of-crap moron as McKinney.

Indian background; with a name like that, he's much more likely to be Hindu.

Plenty of Hindu socialists; it's a pretty sure bet that this guy is one, given where he's at, and his involvement in the process of hiring her.
Also, speaking to your original point, the list of outside-the-district apparently-Muslim-named campaign contributors to Jihad Cyndy's 2002 campaign was quite extensive. Those were of extreme interest to us at the time (still are, actually). It provided a good reason to be suspicious of this guy.

With all of her quotes in the media that I have read, I wonder how she can be a college professor? She is unable to speak let alone teach anything.
