You know, Maria and I, we teach our kids basic principles," he said, referring to his wife, Maria Shriver. "We teach them: Don't spend more money than you have.... I promise you that's what I would teach Sacramento."
"Sacramento has overspent, overtaxed and over-regulated our businesses," he said.

This is common sense. Arnold's going to go a long way with talk like this. Which is what the Democrats won't tell you. California has indeed overspent, overtaxed, and overregulated itself to the brink of oblivion. I for one will be soo glad to bid Gray Davis a la hasta vista, baby! come October 7th. I can't wait to send our liberal political class in Sacramento a message it will never forget about the importance of living by the same basic principles we teach to our kids.

"He doesn't know anything about the budget; that's the problem," Burton said. "He could take probably up to $70 a month from the blind, aged and disabled; eliminate programs for the developmentally disabled and the mentally ill; eliminate aid to local law enforcement; and shut down a couple of state universities and some in the UC system, and that might balance the budget." This is typical Demonrat bull**it.

Its reminds me of the hysterical rhetoric you heard from the Left when the Republicans won Congress. None of which proved in the slightest to subsequently be true.

Why not use the budget from some year prior to the spending boom (1997 maybe?),adjusted for inflation, as a starting point?
