The very large monument was ready to go in at 5 o'clock in the afternoon. You want it erected in the middle of the day when people are using the building?

OK: it is permitted to have a gay homosexual sodomite bishop leading in the Episcopal Church, and to conduct homosexual marriages between sexual deviants, but it is not permitted to have the ten commandments symbolically on display in the supreme court building of a state.

My tiny little mind is having trouble comprehending all this stuff.

The level of political and social (and religious) discourse in this country has hit rock bottom.

History teaches us that such decadence presages the downfall of civilizations.

Oh yes it is debatable. True, the courts today say it is applying to the states.

But, as several posts on here show, such as 491, there is no definite proof that it was originally intended to make the BOR apply to the states. In fact, the evidence seems to go the opposite direction. The Blaine Amendment was rejected even though nobody spoke up and said, "Now wait a minute, why do we even need this with the 14th Amendment?"

BTW, I got my information from books on the subject, some very liberal in view and pro-separationist.

I don't want to fight you or anyone else at this forum.

And I'm leaving this forum for tonight after this post, but I'm willing to debate whether or not the First Amendment in its entirety has been applied to the states. I am positive that it has.

What gets me into trouble with many people here is that I will argue what the law is, and even defend it, from my legal background. It has nothing to do with my political, religous, social, or whatever views on the subject. I want to explain what the law is, and why it is.

When I do so, I'm seen on the opposite side philosophically, which may be true or not, depending on the issue.

But my true loyalty is to the Rule of Law and the Constitution. 95% of the time, I think that puts me on the side of Christians, Republicans, conservatives, and all my friends. 5% of the time, I'm making enemies by taking a position.

I'd like to reduce that 5%.

It wasn't the middle of the night (that the sculpture was put in place). It started at 6 PM after work hours.... They did it that way for safety....

Thanks for clearing that up. From comments on the news channels by leftie pukes, it sounded like a vast conspiracy to sneak this perfidious monument into place in the dead of night, behind the backs of the good people of Alabama.

Well, I can only speak for myself. No problems here. You're on my side, we just have a difference of opinion here.

You know, I am getting a chill sense that things may be building to a tipping point. It isn't the Ten Commandments in an Alabama courthouse--that is the smallest part of it.

You contradict yourself. Judge Moore did not do anything by the means of law. He might expressed some prefference but so WHAT? I'm not going into the "sect" thing - to call the Ten Comandments a religious "sect" symbol is plain ignorance.
