SAVING THE PIPES NOMINATION
-- Bush Outwits The Insidious Kennedy-Cair Axis

by Denis Schulz

"Okay, boys, here's the gamer. I'll drop back to pass; the Veep will fake up the middle; Colin will go long; we'll trap Teddy Kennedy when he comes in, and if anybody clips Ibrahim Hoopercrit, make it look like an accident; then while the Democrats are catching their breaths (recessing), we'll send the White House water boy around the end with the Pipes nomination. Slick as a whistle. It works every time."

The President has used this play before. It's called The Recess Appointment. It's a way of bypassing the chuckleheads and the obstructionists in the US Senate -- of which, needless to say, there are many.

It should not have come to this. Daniel Pipes is more than qualified to serve on the board of the US Institute of Peace. But when George W. nominated Pipes, a Middle-East scholar of the first magnitude, for a seat on the Institute, pro-Muslim American groups and their running dogs in the Democratic Party went berserk.

Ibrahim Hoopercrit of CAIR (Council of American Islamic Relations) accused Pipes of opposing, "...the president's Road Map to peace in the Middle East."

Road Map? They call that jigsaw puzzle a road map? Where's the onramp? How do you get off? There are more detours, dead ends, and washouts on that map then there were on Calvin's Super-Secret Treasure Map and Calvin was trying to make that thing every bit as difficult as he could. And where are the road signs? Did they forget them? Shouldn't the weary traveler be warned of some of the hazards? Where does it say: "Slow --Terrorist Crossing"; "Beware -- Bridge Slippery After Suicide Bombings"; "Rest Stop -- Be Careful It Could Be Your Last"?

And those street names. Good grief! Case in point: al-Qaeda Road, al-Aqsa Parkway; Hamas Boulevard! It sounds like a terrorist-friendly neighborhood. The AAA would never put out a map like this -- not if it wanted to stay in business. At least Calvin had the good sense to tear his map to shreds when he realized how ridiculous it was.

Hoopercrit also accused Pipes of supporting "...the unrestricted profiling of Muslims and Arabs;" of claiming, "...10 to 15 percent of all Muslims are potential killers" (It's probably higher than that.); and for decrying, "...any positive portrayal of Islamic history and beliefs in public schools." Oh, what a scamp, that Ibrahim! He knows all about the separation of church and state in this country. He was born here!

But wait--maybe he doesn't! Here's what Mr. Hoopercrit said about religion in the US: "I wouldn't want to create the impression that I wouldn't like the government of the United States to be Islamic sometime in the future...But I'm not going to do anything violent to promote it."

Artie Johnson would have swallowed his cigarette on that one. While Hoopercrit may not personally engage in any of the violent activity aimed at establishing an Islamic dictatorship in the US, he has done little to condemn the violence that has taken place. He says he is against the killing of innocent men, women, and children; yet he has never condemned Mohammed Atta. Not once has he said that Mohammed Atta will burn forever in Hell for what he did to the Twin Towers. Could it be that folks like Mr. Hoopercrit do not include Christians and Jews -- to say nothing of atheists -- in their list of the innocent? The Koran tolerates Christians and Jews -- as second-class citizens; atheists are to be, for lack of a better word, destroyed.

And this is the kind of creep that Teddy Kennedy and his pals in the Democratic Party are supporting in the confirmation hearings on Daniel Pipes. Cultural diversity will fry the brains of anyone who clutches it tightly....

Bush ought to use every single Senate break as an opportunity for recess appointments and fill every seat.

Joe Kennedy, Ted Kennedy's Dad, was unapolagetically pro-Hitler prior to Pearl Harbor. One thing about the Kennedys, at least they practice consist policy.

Pipes has also said that the solution to militant Muslims is moderate Muslims. So far, moderate Muslims (if such a thing exists) have not emerged to denounce and disenfranchise the militants. Their failure to do so amounts to tacit approval of the barbaric acts committed by the militants in the name of Islam.

Perhaps Mr. Pipes is naive, or stupid, or following an agenda. In any case, calling on one faction of a group to solve a problem being caused by another faction of the same group is no solution at all. Islam has, essentially, declared war on the rest of the world since its teachings DO NOT ALLOW ANY OTHER religion to co-exist with Islam. Essentially, this has plunged us into a new Crusades that the Muslims (not the West) have declared.

This facit of Mr. Pipes' philosophy is disturbing and must be considered in his nomination. I know little of this man other than what I have seen in the press, but this notion he has of moderate Muslims solving the problem of militant Muslims is not, in my opinion, a ringing endorsement for him. There must be someone else, the President can find.
