MONTREAL - Quebec police say a drunk driver hit a group of three men and continued driving for an hour with the body of an 18-year-old man stuck in the windshield of his car.

Nicholas Fortin and two friends were struck by a car as they were leaving a bar in Ste-Adele, north of Montreal, early Saturday morning.

People outside the bar rushed to help the two injured men at the side of the road, unaware that a third person had been carried away by the fleeing car.

Police arrested a driver 50 minutes later, with the victim still lodged against the windshield.

Fortin was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The 59-year-old driver, Gilles Francouer, was taken to a police station and failed alcohol tests. In court on Monday, Francouer was formally charged with eight offences related to drunk driving and causing death and injury.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges. Francouer will remain in jail pending his next court appearance, scheduled for Aug. 28.

Don't question the superior and enlightened system of justice in French Canada- obviously the only one not drunk in this situation was the car, hence the driver must be innocent.

On that note, after that twisting of logic, I need a drink!

At least Mallard, high on drugs at the time, had enough sense to drive quickly into her garage. This twit drove drunkenly on the public highways for nearly an hour with a body in his windshield for all the see ... and for nearly an hour nobody stopped him!!

OK, I hope this was in a really rural area, or Canadians have taken "tolerance" to it's logical, but absurd, limit.

Canada is on the metric system, right?

Is that why they have 50 minute hours?

Or is it a time slip, where he can drive for an hour but be arrested only 50 minutes later.
