So Mr. Farr and his buddies will soon be giving free houses to the citizens of Mexico

I'm almost thinking Americans should start thinking out of the box --- what if people started heading to states outside the USA --- maybe Zacatecas which has half it's people in the USA now --- there's not much taxes to pay in Mexico, the weather is excellent ----maybe colonization should be two-way.

You might consider staying. If young enough soldiers will be needed.

I was also talking to a Freeper from Colorado who was in Banking and real estate and says that he has been out of work for six months and is having a terrible time finding a new job. So, maybe you should think about some other areas.

I was born, raised and still live in the Dallas area. It has grown too much during my lifetime. I long to move away, but can't bring myself to do it. I have travel the country and have seen a lot of beautiful places, but nothing as beautiful as the Dallas skyline as I fly back into DFW. I think I'll move to Tyler.

Nothing that you think is good about Texas will survive the population growth there.

Move to Texas, and in 5 to 10 years you'll be moving again for many of the same reasons.

The Free State Project got me started along these lines too. A bunch of productive Americans all moving to the Bahamas? Hmmmmm....

We moved the SF East Bay two years ago to Arlington, TX. Love it here. Yes it is true about the property taxes being on the high side but remember no state income tax and a low sales tax. The general cost of living here is cheap especially when compared with the West Coast. There are tons of things to do in the area, we never want for something to do or go see.
Like everywhere, do you homework, check out the areas and then decide what is in your best interest.

But why not Mexico? Certain areas of it are becoming quite unpopulated. Maybe it'd be worth moving to an area the Mexicans are leaving instead of coming to.

"Texans move to Colorado in large numbers"

So do Californians. I lived in Colorado for many years. My daughter and grandson still do. The winters are brutal and painfully long. The dryness sucks the moisture right out of your body. The political landscape is WAY better than many places, but that is changing, particularly in urban areas, largely due to an influx of Californians (of the liberal persuasion). A popular bumper sicker in Colorado reads: "Don't Californicate Colorado".

On the positive side, the mountains are beautiful, the state has a terrific governor, and it is hard to beat for a person who loves the outdoors. I have to confess that I miss the wonderful whitewater rafting there. If you choose Colorado though, I would recommend a small mountain community, preferably on the western slope, unless you are really into urban chaos, then Denver or Colorado Springs might be for you. A lot of Californians retreat after the first winter though, so let that be fair warning.

"Just curious...what has changed so much in California to make you want to pick up and move."

This place is so PC you can't believe it. They voted down a mural in the university because it had WHITE cranes in it. They wouldn't approve it until the cranes were painted 'darker'. These are BIRDS!!! Also, another mural depicting the Pilgrims (in a university funded by MY tax dollars) had to depict a 'same-sex' couple or it wouldn't have been approved. I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP! That aside, try out'RAGEOUS' inflated property values (my realtor said I could buy Saddam's palace in Texas for what I have here, which I gasped at), the liberals, the liberals, the liberals, the taxes, the taxes, the taxes. Let's talk PETA, 'soysauges', the Green party, Birkenstocks, affirmative action, 'hate crime' - where do you think this all originated? HERE!!!! Whew - thanks for the vent.

West Texas is where it is at with San Angelo the crown jewel. It is a wild yet conservative area of over 250k people and a western frontier town mentality. The big city, the mountains and the border less than 3 hours away (at 100 miles an hour and no armadillo mishaps).

I lived in Texas from 95-98. The republicans are republicans and the democrats are republicans. We lived just north of Dallas, 50 miles from Oklahoma.

No income taxes, but they make it up in very high property taxes (probably double what we pay in Cal.

The people are great, but the weather is, well, hard to adjust to. High humidity and temperatures most of the year, but in the winter they get "blue northers'" coming down from Canada and the plains. The wind can blow a consistant 30 mph for days, with night temps in the 20's or 30's. Houses are big, beautiful and very cheap. Good luck!

Thanks - that was one suggested by the realtor! This is the type of stuff I need to know.

You have a much higher opinion of Colorado Springs than I do. About the only part of your post I agree with is the beautiful mountains and access to year round outdoor recreation. On everything else, I have an opposite opinion. I guess it is good that we don't all like the same things.

and the democrats are republicans

Not close --- but quite a few of them are in Albuquerque right now ---- I'd like if better if they just stay there.

LOL, very good. I tested hubby to see if he could figure it out, with no clues, and he did! I'm very proud of him. He does love country music too, if that helps.

gee...do you think Hillary! loves any kind of music? she just seems so tone-deaf and joyless. This is why I still like bill way better than that witch.

Marry me. ;) But seriously, this is scary - I think they have a good chance of getting the recall delayed just because of Monterey County. The judge made noises about 'declaration' etc., a requirement of (illegal haven) Monterey County. If this recall election is delayed on a technicality with no real legal merit, it's one more nail in the coffin for the people to have their say in this socialist pariah state. I'm outta here.
