Hungry Liberians smash barricades

MONROVIA, Liberia (CNN) -- Tens of thousands of starving Liberians have been breaking through barricades in Monrovia in search of food and familes after rebels relaxed their grip on the capital.

Meanwhile Friday the first ship carrying food aid to Liberia's capital after weeks of fighting docked and aid workers are preparing to feed thousands of famished people, the U.N. World Food Programme said.

The first two ships docked carrying high-energy biscuits and other supplies from the WFP and refugee agency UNHCR, but damaged equipment hindered unloading. A U.S. plane brought more aid.

Three other U.N. ships are due next week, U.N. officials said, the first due from Freetown, Sierra Leone early next week. The next three ships were described as larger vessels that will be loaded with tons of food.

Boy, the folks there could use some relief.

Saw a photo in the NYT of a huge crowd of people in Liberia, looting a food warehouse and walking out with those big sacks of "USA" grain.

So I'm thinking, is this really "looting"? The grain was sent there to be eaten by... hungry people. The grain was clearly being taken out by... hungry people?? :-)

Consider that when the Liberals began to demand "freedom" and "self determination" for 'Black Africa' they didn't have any historical or direct knowledge of Africa's totally tribal nature. The concept of the nation instead of the tribe is not part of the African's view of the world or themselves.

Sad to say, the Liberal 'empowerment" of the African resulted in lots of traditional African behavior. Massacres, torture, cannibalism, starvation, "necklacing", abject poverty replacing relative plenty(Rhodesia, South Africa), and habitat degradation became the norm.

Oddly, the presstitutes cheered these regressions into babarism and savagery! But the presstitutes are Western, not African - so why are they either cheering or silent during the worst of "Africans being African"?
