I think that one should have as many children as they want to have, as long as they can SUPPORT them without stealing money from me. The trashing of the house is ridicules. If their mortgage was as high as mine, they sure as hell would not have trashed it. I guess there are different calibers of people, those that default on a $115.00 dollar mortgage and those that don't default on a $1500.00 dollar mortgage.

I can barely support two children. I have two children. We ain't going to have sixteen more.

PS: I didn't slam you either.

Well, stand back dearie, I am going to slam you too.

My mother was one of twelve children. Most of those children had large families of eleven, twelve and even seventeen children. I am in the process of organizing a reunion for the direct decendents only of my mother's father and mother. I have not done a head count yet, but some have told me that it might be close to eight hundred people.

And you know what? Only a dozen or so have been rumored to be deadbeats.

Who are you to dictate the number of children a parent can have?

Slam away. My former mother in law was one of 16, FIL one of 12; together they had 10 (living) children.

My grandmother is one of 16, two sets of twins, one set of triplets. Her husband one of 17 (all boys).

Not a deadbeat in the bunch. Sorry you weren't so lucky.

Support the little buggers, is all I can say to your post.

Have fun at the reunion and remember the name tags.

I hear you and I know you didn't slam me. I have three of my own and it's a struggle.

They can have as many children as they want. If they can't afford them then they need to mow my yard and kiss my ass while they are stealing money from me in the form of deadbeat handouts.

As long as I am paying for their food and housing they can change my oil, vacuum my carpet and do my laundry.

If you cannot afford a Mercedes don't buy one. If you cannot afford 10 or 20 children DON'T HAVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, I do agree completely.

I was responding to another post that said "in any case" people shouldn't have large families.

Sorry for the harshness.

I am just sooooooooo tired of losing 50% of my income to deadbeats via corrupt politicians.

Enjoy your reunion; it would be nice to have the moral support and camaraderie of a large family.

He can't work because of a heart problem, but he can father 18 children.

And all of them, apparently, like their daddy: unable to do a lick of work (like picking up the garbage out of the front yard or sweeping the kitchen floor).

Yeah but it takes two to tango. She should have made that old goat sleep on the roof. (I assume these...these...people [and I use the term loosely] are on welfare).

Out of twenty people only ONE has a job????????????

Chips off the ol' block, I'd say. Kids as young as 14 can usually find some way to earn money, and a guy with a heart ailment certainly could. The VP of the US has had heart problems for years, and he's not exactly on welfare.

Mr. Smith said the violations include some damaged light bulb fixtures, which he said he tried to repair, and a missing electrical junction box lid in the laundry room, which he said he replaced. He said other violations included missing ceiling tiles in the pool table room, which he said he took down after his children damaged them with pool sticks.

A pool table? I work and have 1 kid and no pool table.

I don't have a problem with big families. I do have a problem with people who spit out kids just to spit them out and leave them to themselves. There is no valid excuse why they would trash the house. Some people need to learn to control themselves and their get.

Funny you should say that...I just got off the phone with my 8 yr old granddaughter...lots of construction going on in her neighborhood...(keep in mind, she's only eight - going into 3rd grade)and in the last two weeks, she's made over $150 profit with her mom and little sisters, pulling a wagon and cooler full of pop, to sell at 50 cents/can to the construction workers/roofers (and again, her mom is right beside her).

At eight years old, she knows the thrill/and pride of earning her own money...of course, American Girl will benefit the most....ha.

"This makes me sick ping"

Yep!
The big misconception of liberals who condone these giveaway programs is that the value of the gift is constant.
There is nothing we get in life that has a constant value to all people.
The value changes according to our priorities and according to the amount of work we have to put out to get it.
If it costs very little, it has very little value.

aaaah - it's a girl...but thanks anyway. Sometimes a girl to have that resourcefulness that you spoke of, is more important than a boy... it's more difficult for us. ha

According to the New York Times article from 2000, practically all of the furniture in the house, including, I assume, the pool table, are donations from local individuals.
